My step mom sent this email to me... I'm not sure if the website is reputable and I only read this particular article but I figured I'd pass it along in case anyone wanted to read it.

I just have trouble with articles like this that don't have anything to back it up except one Dr. mentioned in the article. This is like an article where someone says, "Cure for Cancer is found in Omega 3 supplement...Or "Daily meditation is cure for all chronic pain".....

I don't see any references this author has for this research?...I don't see any of the main places like Mayo, NIH, or other places where research is normally done.

I dare you to post this on the Fibro board! LOL (Teasing you...)I know you are the messenger but I don't even know what the Guardian is?

Ha ha ha aha.... I will not! Not even if you triple dog dared me to!

If there were some miraculous discovery I'm sure it would be on many more reputable outlets but you never know. I read everything I can about endometriosis but most of it is irrelevant.

I do not believe this is a satisfactory concluision and think more research needs to be done, this article dose a dis-service to all of us...No cure was mentioned in this article!

Chart...I was going on everything they wrote including the title which is saying that Fibro has now been solved and they are certain what the cause is...as well as these things:
The discovery may lead to new treatments and perhaps even a total cure in the future, bringing relief to as many as 5 million Americans thought to have the disease.



Now that the cause of Fibromyalgia has been pinpointed, patients are looking forward to an eventual cure



So, the whole article is talking in absolutes as if this "discovery" has now proven what causes Fibro so now there will be a cure.

And then the last sentence:

The announcement has the potential to unlock better futureVIEW IMAGE treatments and undoubtedly has patients all over the world rejoicing that the mystery of Fibromyalgia has finally been solved



When I don't see one link to any of the research to read about it, where it was done, or any other information except quoting one Dr.

So, that is why, personally, I don't see this being anything more than yet another 'hype' article....

Oh, no no QT_Pye78, so very sorry No I just didn't phrase that they way I wanted, your good. so very sorry!
what I was meaning to say is "That the Article is doing Fibro people a dis service as it really isn't a cure" and it could hurt people with fibro as it total points toward another direction and that the medical community might get confused by this. Some pm doctor's posted replies against this article...
I wasn't trying to make an attack at all on anyone...sorry just pointing out that the title "might say cure but it's not once you read it..."

A totally unsubstantiated story, in my opinion, with no real cites of facts or research. I even question the motivation of the person(s) that even wrote this "article". We see stuff like this all the time about Prostate Cancer, on a regular basis, and quickly throw it out the window as a junk article.

No offense to QT for posting it. Just the messenger. No harm, no foul, IMO

I actually think it was a good idea that you posted this.

What the article should have said is that there's a possible link between fibro and increased blood flow in the hands, and these AV shunts.

The rest is just sensationalism. But it does provide a starting point. And it does it's job in that now people with fibro have some more proof on their side and a better foothold in the medical community.
