so I had surgery acdf and lumbar

Yesterday I had a level 1 acdf on c56 and microscopic disectomy on l5s1
It went well and I feel my chief pain from those pinched nerves are already gone
I so glad I had the surgery.

Hi Rachel, so they did both surgeries at the same time. Any special reason the dr did it this way and not do them on separate admissions. That is a little unusual. Glad to read that the nerve pain is gone, that is a very good sign for sure. Just give yourself plenty of time to recuperate from the surgeries. Even though things may look healed on the outside things are not completely healed on the inside. I am sure the dr has told you that the best thing you can do to get your strength & stamina back is to walk. Start out slow so you don't get far from the house & not be able to make it back. You can add more distance slowly.

Rachel glad everything went well for you, having had the C5/6 acdf I can only reintegrate what others have told you, just make sure you follow your doctors orders to the Tee! Don't over due it, or rush into doing things. Just take it easy and let your body heal. The bone graft in the acdf can take quite a long time to fuse, and even with hard ware ( if you have it) to hold things together you still need to be really careful till it all mends together inside.
