Those of you who have a comfortable relationship with your prescribing doctor, please, please learn from all of us here how important that is, what a huge sign that is of earning MUTUAL respect. Please never take it for granted. Please never assume you can just pick that up along the line with any doctor you may need to see in the future.
I love my PCP to bits. I adore her. I like that she is so comprehensive, willing to see me every 2 weeks, willing to take me on as a complicated patient with such a host of medical issues, a long list of medications, a long list of allergies, and what she refers to as a "moving target" (it's always something going wrong, something hurting, a new development, another surgery), nothing's ever been just,....you know,....controlled/maintained/stable.
And now I have to take this "moving target" of a specimen and keep my fingers crossed. I'll admit I'm concerned about being labeled a "doctor shopper" given I am, actually, shopping for a doctor (if that makes sense),...I need to interview several (unless I luck out with my first appointment). This is our new home, our house, our whole family, everything's transferred, it's a huge deal. Reputation is everything.
Cherish the ones you've got, everyone, they're precious.
