Need prayers and fast!

That's it! He's in recovery, the med to break 2nd clots working really slow but family opted to not risk his life over his speech ability (good choice) . The other clot they were able to get to and remove gave him back 80% of functional loss back and that's one awesome percentage!

He will be going for an MRI later to see what that clots doing and to make sure he's had no more. He's one lucky man today and that's some awesome Neurosurgical team in Dallas. The EMTs that responded initially began anticoagulants onboard and in route andand thanks to Life flight they continued treatment in flight and he was in Dallas and under surgical procedure within 30 minutes of leaving the other hospital.

Sometimes all things work as they should.

Many heartfelt thanks to each of you and this sometimes crazy place we call home. Like family we may not always agree but when its needed we always come together for a greater good.

Omg! My daughter called upset saying he was answering all their questions with yes! Even the ones he shouldn't! Lol

I told her they needed to give him a break and a big hug and if he thought his name was Bob and she's the maid who cares? The man mere hours ago was about as close to death as one could be and now he's not!

It's residual effects from TBI and it will get better as time passes.

Im kind of glad they dont understand the seriousness of what he's been through today. The sheer fact he had major brain surgery and survived allows him a few wrong answers in my book.

Sounds like prayers were answered today. I'm very relieved to her that your daughter FIL is doing well. You did the right thing by not telling her what could happen.

That's my hope for every one. That progress, new meds, medical devices and treatments will one day insure that no one has to live with chronic pain.

What's amazing is the hospital had to open the extra ICU Surgical waiting room to hold all the church members that instead of going to Mass this morning drove 50 miles to Dallas to hold a prayer vigil for one of their own deacons, that hundreds of miles away I post for prayers on an online forum and all day folks from all over the world, all walks of life, religious or not sent out hope and prayer and healing thoughts to a man whose name they dont know and something miraculous occurred, he beat all odds!

Family member had strokes so a. A bit familiar from that point of view. His was on left side. The only word he could saw 'no' afterwards but he soon started adding gestures to indicate what he really meant.

UPDATE!: The MRI late last night showed only a very small piece of clot that hadn't dissolved. Showed only a small area of less then 2cm effected by this blockage and he's still on anticoagulant therapy hoping the rest of the clot will dissolve soon.

He's off the ventilator, and awake even though he still has some very mild confusion to person, place and time.

He's interacting with family and having some speech problems they said when he gets in a hurry to say something.

There's no swelling and the Neurosurgeon gave him an 95% for full recovery!

That and the fact they had the good sense to get him to Baylor in Dallas which is one of the top hospitals in the Country! Too bad we all cant have equal opportunities at the best.

Vicki, I am so sorry that I haven't been around to post sooner, but I am so glad he is recovering and prayers continued for a smooth, full recovery and for all of you.
