Hello Chad & welcome to the chronic pain forum. You had a duplicate post so I went in & deleted it as duplicate posting is not allowed at the forum.

I am sorry to read that after surgery you are continuing to have problems. What is your dr telling you about all of this? You mentioned doing a lot of sitting, well that is not good for a person with a back problem & I would also think it would not be good for your hip either. Sitting puts a lot of pressure on the spine.

We do have some other folks on here that have recent hip surgery, hopefully they will be checking in soon. You may want to use the search feature here at the forum & type in hip replacement surgery & pull up some of those threads...Welcome aboard...Susie

PS: We have forum rules set our by the owner that we ask all members to read & become familiar with. It just helps keeping everyone on the same page.....

Chad,

I agree with Susie that checking with your doctor and surgeon about your concerns should be first on your list.

I have two artificial hips and spinal fusions & decompression L1-L5, so yes, I can relate quite well to what you're writing.

Susie's also got a good point about how sitting makes our low back and hip more uncomfortable.

I know it's hard to move around, (I'm with you),...but even getting up every hour or so to move around, something to keep things moving.  It's so important.  People like us, we can stiffen up very quickly and it's even more vital we stay active.

hopefully the pain will pass . it took 12 months before I felt like my hip and I was one and working together . my hip has been in 22 yrs and is only now starting to ache more than usual .

give it 12 months for everything to settle down then take it from there if pain persist still head back to surgeon tht did it for a chat

Hi Chad, I've also had my left hip replaced because of avascular necrosis and I've been complaining to my ortho since he did the replacement 13-months ago. My pain is from my left lower back to the side of the hip plus my hip does alot of clicking and popping. First I was told it was bursitis and now after more xrays they are telling me it's arthritis.(they have no clue) I have AVN in 6-joints.And my shoulder that was replaced in 2009 has just recently started to fail me again so I need to redo my right shoulder and do my left shoulder because it has totally collapsed. It's a very frustrating disease

My last hip replacement also pops and clicks a lot.  My first one did not.  In fact, I healed very well from the first one.

The second one has been a roller coaster ride, and my ortho just tells me we hit a rough patch when I had two infections and an allergic reaction, and it set me back a bit....but my care providers think I should be "all fine" because so much time has passed.

I know that my back surgery is just now starting to reduce in swelling and it's been 11 months.

My hip from June is still extremely swollen (the popping one)....PT says they've seen it take 12-16 months for swelling to go down sometimes.
