Hi, everyone. I've been reading some of your postings on the stimulators. I have had a chance to try both the boston and metronics . With my own personal experience I found the the metronics now gave me shocks and for that reason I had to have it removed. But I have had the boston scientific one place two years ago. I found that even with the stimulator I do still need the pain meds but I don't need them on a regular basis. Whereas before I was on 22 pills a day. Now I've reduced to 6 pills at night and 5 in the morning. yeah On that not the machine does help reduce the pain. But on occasion I have to still take the oxyneo, or oxicodon. But I am really happy with my stimulator because of the reduction in meds and pain.

I can't sleep without having it on at night.

To charge it it takes about 8-10 hours to have it fully charged.

I was wondering if anyone knows of the doctors using the boston scientific stimulator here in Toronto ?

Hello WomenofSteel, glad to read that you got your problem fixed with your SCS units. I am not sure how the drs in Toronto decide which units to use on their patients. Here in the states it pretty much depends on which one the dr in question is pushing. Some drs use one brand only. I think a majority of our members with these units are here in the states but please keep checking back for responses.

It is always encouraging to read someone is having success with their treatment. Keep us posted on how you are getting along.

Thank you for posting your story of these, sorry about your back pain. My doctor brought up the subject of these stims and he does the medtronics ones However, I do think most people get relief from the boston branding so I'm glad you posted your results as they'll help me...

Hello Steel, Im so glad that with your Stimulator that you were able to reduce your pain meds from 22 a day to 6. I also have the Boston Sci, SMS and it does nothing for my nerve pain, intact, at times it will irritate my nerves more. I have not had it removed, because I really do not want anymore cutting in my back, and Im sure that scare tissue have grown around the cords.

Womenofsteel - I think like Susie said, it depends largely on which brand the particular doctor uses most - but some will use different brands depending on different patient requirements. The different companies also tend to have different reps who work with one specific doctor.

I've had a St Jude/ANS one for 7 1/2 years. In terms of pain relief it's always been good, but I have had a lot of problems with lead migration, and one early battery failure. I'm also not happy with my current battery, which was implanted in March last year. I'm guessing it's the same with Medtronic and BS that you ideally should keep them at least half charged at all times? But because my settings are so high and I have so many 'stim sets', to do that means I have to charge every other day at best, sometimes every day. It's a real pest because being very thin the extra pressure over my battery site occasionally causes my scars to start splitting and breaking.
