still no 10/325 percocets...have new appointment date

I've been to so many pharmacies since Dec. 23 looking for one that can fill my Percocet 10/325 script..

No luck.

My usual mom and pop place has "a lot" of the 10/650's and of course I would need a new script for those.

My pm doc rotates between 3 offices...he was in town today, so I stopped in even though I didn't have an appointment.

I showed the receptionist my script and explained the no one has these meds!! I need a new script, it would really be hard to wait until my Jan. 15th appointment.

She was so nice!!!! She didn't treat me like scum of the earth (as the nurse did on the phone when I had called over a week ago).

So my new appointment is for this coming Tuesday, the 7th.

I hope the doc will be ok with the 10/650's.

If not, I might ask him about a long acting med, maybe oxycontin (which my orthopedic doc gave me years ago).....I can't take anything with morphine.....I'll see how it goes.

If anyone has any opinions/ideas on this, please share!

I'm just so relieved to have this earlier appointment!!!

I've squirreled pills away over time--like if I got my script filled on the 28th or 29th day, those get saved.

Sometimes I break one in half and save the other half.

So this stash has kept me from going thru major withdrawals.

That's such a great story to hear!

We so often hear horror stories, that it's nice to hear about having a positive experience. Congratulations on your new, earlier appointment. It's reassuring to be treated nicely. I think we CP'ers often get rudely judged because of our meds. It's heart-warming to know good experiences do exist. They lend hope!

I agree with Linds. I'm glad you were able to have a backup plan in place, just in case of such an emergency.

Merrida, you're so right about being treated differently because we're CP'ers. It seems most people assume the worst, so it was wonderful when the receptionist was so compassionate.

M&G, no, I didn't get a script for the 10/650....they couldn't fit me in to see him today, and he won't change meds without seeing the patient....even though I see him every 2 months

Linds, frankly my pain is worse....most days I don't take my regular prescribed amount in order to save pills. My hand/wrist is pretty bad right now...the one from the 3 surgeries

then there's the stress of not knowing what will ultimately happen with my pain meds since you never know how my pm doc will respond--- that's put me in a fibro flare, which aggravates the arthritis...

kind of a vicious circle! However, I've got my appointment on Tuesday, I've been going to this doc for several years so he knows me, so I'm going to try to relax and think positive.....

Linds, what meds are you on? Do you take something for breakthrough pain too?
