Thought it would never happen to me but I got judged!

So I went for my refills yesterday... Super easy appointment and went to the pharmacy downstairs to fill my scripts as usual. They fill my BT meds and ask me to come up to speak with the pharmacist and it seems that my pharmacy renewed their contract and they no longer supply Mylan manufactured drugs (my script specifies Mylan brand Fentanyl patches). So later in the day I run to Rite Aid where I've gone in the past when I had a postdated script or need a refill (my Dr and pharmacy are 40 minutes away). I handed my script to the young lady who works there and explained why I didnt get it filled when i got my BT meds since they can see that through Maps (Michigan Automated Prescription Systems) and she goes to show the pharmacist. She comes back and says "we're out" so I told her that was fine they can call me when it comes in. My pharmacy has had to order it in the past and I come back the next day... She said, no we won't keep your prescription or order this for you because our orders have been filled this week and a new order won't be put in till Tuesday. This was a blatent lie because I know the pharmacist and their orders come in three times a week. I asked her if they would mind calling to neighboring Rite Aids like Mike has done in the past when they didn't have Mylan. She goes back to the pharmacist and she says "He's not comfortable doing that for you." I asked for the corporate number so maybe they can point me in the direction of who has them and she says "No, you can just look it up online". So I asked politely if she can look it up in lieu of customer service since I wasn't getting much with them.

They gave me the number for the regional manager who looked up my history and their inventory and apologized for the incident. She said that a pharmacist has the right to decline a script if something feels off but that I dont fit the "warning signs" they are trained to look for. And, the pharmacist should say that... They should not lie to a customer. So, long story... Umm... long.. I went back this morning to the same Rite Aid and got my script.

I have heard of this happening to folks but I haven't experienced it directly! Guess there's a first time for everything. I'm just thankful I got my medication.. I was on day three of my two day patch and it was starting to get bad.

Morning Vickie! I was there in Jan 2010 - June 2012 so it was getting bad... And I know they had a shortage of oxycodone because of the mills but I went to the same place and it was mom and pop (and coincidentally downstairs from my pain clinic) so I never had problems.

But I did see some of the issues... One CVS by us had a sign up that they had a list of doctors they wouldn't fill for. And one of the Walgreens by us got busted for giving out a ridiculous amount of percocet, I think it was.

I'm just glad I didn't have to go all weekend in pain. I Drove around to four places yesterday and no one had it and I was getting worried.

I told the woman in corporate that I look relatively young for a cp'er so I can understand checking into me on sight (I guess) but on paper I'm a model patient!

Hmmmm, she asked for my information, maybe she'll send me some extra Rite Aid rewards or something! LoL

Yup, I got it filled at the same pharmacy twelve hours later. My appointments are always on Thursday and they had to order it for me before (same pharmacy) and it was in on Friday. So even if its once a week... I know she was lying about me having to wait til next Tuesday for the order to go out.

Well that and the fact that they weren't actually out of the medication in the first place. She was just lying all over the place. LoL!

That is so sad, that he didn't know the word/meaning. Good thing you dumped him.

As others have said, this sort of "discrimination" has happened to many of us who are CPers. Sad, but reality. I still get the occasional "look" from a new trainee at the pharmacy that I've used for years. The head pharmacist is always respectful, which is nice, but not always available.
In the past, there were were times where I dreaded going to get meds filled just because of the stigma associated with it. It comes with the territory I suppose.
