Wanted to send you some prayers and well wishes, I read in a posting that you had nerve testing done, sure hope your neuro appointment goes good and you keep us posted on that as it get closer...I tend to forget things...
I've been having neck issues lately and have tried everything to get it to calm down and I have resorted to taking tylenol at night just to get some sleep. It just under the cervical region of the spine and radiates out and I had the heat pad up to 3 and couldn't feel it tonight in that area, so sorry...but I'm sorry I strayed off topic...

Thanks Chart, Here I thought that all that numbness and tingling and stuff with my legs and feet was caused by all the stuff going on in my back! But they are now telling me that it isn't caused by my back! So who knows what is going on! Have to wait till March for my neurologist appointment. Also will see the Pain Clinic in Indy about a pain pump. Decided not to go with the UK in Lexington, they told me I would have to go six weeks without any pain medication before getting the pump. But wouldn't tell me how they were going to control my pain during that time. Also I was told if I got their pain pump that I would not be given anything for break through???? After that initial appointment I decided that I would just go with my original referral to Indy.

What's going on with you Chart, you mentioned that your pain radiates out, where does it radiate out too? in your arms? Do you have some nerve root impingement going on in your cervical spine or thoracic spine?

I am glad you started this thread Chart, I will update on it and you can also update us on how your doing to! I know your always concerned about all of us, but what about you? Please let us know how your doing and what's new concerning what you have found out with your diagnosis.

hey white beard, good luck with your test. is it an emg. and when are you having it done. best of luck to ya and hope all goes well. keep us updated on that and the pain pump.six weeks and no pain meds. ouch. hard enough to go just one day. again best of luck to ya...

If the pain isn't from your back, how's a pain pump going to work?

6 weeks without pain meds, no breakthrough? No way!

I sympathize with the radiating pain. My worst now is going to arms from C5, although facet injection there isn't working very well. 2 months minimum between any injections, and I really need a lumbar ablation.

Alcie the pain is coming from my back, but the numbness and tingling in my legs and feet and the neuropathy in them isn't. ( at least that is what they have told me, after the nerve conduction studies) I also have balance problems, and weakness in all my limbs, especially my legs, and some other difficulties. Some neurologist have previously told me that my back is responsible for everything. But not all doctors agree, and apparently from this testing, at least some of my symptoms aren't coming from my back. They know that I have numerous herniated discs and I have had three fusions in my neck and framinotomy in my lower back, the herniated thoracic disc they will not do surgery on. For those they put me on disability and spinal pain management. However these other things going on, they are saying has to do with my brain.???? Previous Brain MRI in 2010 showed spots that the radiologist said was conducive with demyelinating disease?????? But at that time the neurologist insisted that it was my back that was the problem and refused to do further test. Now the VA is doing further testing!

With all this going on, I still have the pain problems related to my back, and with my recent move to Kentucky and the difficulty of continuing my current pain management treatment down here, I was referred by my old PM Doc to the University of Indiana Pain Management Center for possibly getting a pain pump.

To many things going on at the same time I guess....

Wow WB, I had heard that UK had gone on their own "war on drugs " crusade but that's just ridiculous!! A friend I know up there just had a C-section and was sent home from UK on 800mg ibuprofen?? That's a major surgical procedure?? Said she got one shot of morphine post-op, 1 day of a perc 5 every 6 hrs and then only Toradol in injection and ibuprofen!

The sad part to that inhumane treatment is its the only facility that takes the poor, uninsured, medicaid folks from all over the poverty stricken rural areas. So now because they can't afford healthcare they're subjected to torture and left to suffer??

This stupid war and attack on an inanimate object such as a pain pill is the same theory that guns don't kill people, people kill people!!

I'm really sorry that you have to travel further then necessary just to get what so easily could be and should be offered in all medical facilities!!

Yes Vickie when I went to the initial appointment at the UK pain clinic they told that the don't prescribe any oral narcotic pain meds period!!! They also told me that UK only uses oxycontin on cancer patients. I am glad I didn't cancel my appointment in Indy but only rescheduled it for a later date After my initial appointment at UK I talked with my PM Doc in Illinois and I decided to cancel the rest of the appointments that the UK pain clinic made for me, i.e. psych testing and stuff. And am just going to go with Indy instead.

Thanks for the update WhiteBeard. I'll get info from my Doctor next week and see what his take on this, could be stuff going on from the Car accident this past November, I did get some neck whip from that, but it was my right knee that hurt more back then. I figure I'll let my PM doctor sort it out, my hubby can explain it better to my Doctor as he's helping put the cream's on at night and his touch sure does hurt. Yes it radiates into my shoulder's and down the arm...I'm thinking more thoracic region but up close to the cervical. I do have MRI's that show it's a narrow opening going into the thoracic. However, at that point in the spine, that's a tricky area as they could do more harm to me.
Many Prayers to you and will keep my finger's crossed for you. Sure is heck sometimes getting a dx. I know nerve and muscle biopseys came up from my neuro's and they also stated that it should be held off until I get going more downhill...

Hi White beard and everyone elese. I was diagnosed with anxiety. My symptoms are Tingleling in my hands and sometimes they hurt. My thighs to my feet tingle and burn. I do not have a appetite. i am allways cold and get the chills. I shake and tremble inside my body. Today I am going to have a nerve test done on my hands and my thighs to my feet just to make sure there is nothing elese going on. I hope not. I wanted to know that you guys have neuropahty. Do any of you shake or tremble inside your body,and are you all ways cold and get the chills. All so when you walk around do you feel your neuropathy. Or only when you are sitting or laying down. I am getting a EMG TEST DONE. Misty

Hi misty I am glad they are still going to do further testing, maybe your doctor is right and it is anxiety but I am glad they are still checking to see if it might be something else. Because other things can cause the same symptoms, and allot of people get brushed off with the anxiety diagnosis when it is really something else going on! I just had the EMG done along with the other nerve conduction test. Not overly pleasant but not all that bad either. But it is good to have these test, just to make sure that something else isn't going on.

My numbness and tingling in my feet are pretty much all the time. I tore my toenail and I didn't feel it, and it wasn't till I seen blood on my toe that realized what I had done. I don't have the body trembling, but when I try and hold out my arms they shake something fierce and I cant hold them out straight. My appetite is go good! Ha, but I also have some swallowing problems, that come and go.

Anyway Misty I hope that your test go well for you

HI White Beard. i HAD the large nerves tested and my musles. The doctor said he never seen any body nerves that were so good and my musles are very good so far no neuropathy. He did the large nerves now he has made a appointment to get the small nerves down. I did not know there were large and small nevers. Did your doctor do both small and large nerves with the emg testing. What was the results? I have to go back on feb 13 and do the small nerve testing? Misty.
