Second appt. pain medicine doctor

I'm afraid that if you give her back the pills, unused at that, she will not only continue to be gruff but may not continue to see you. They are doctors, although we know what works with our bodies, they feel they do. They want you to try what they suggest and if it does not work, you go from there. Going in with an almost full prescription will not go over well. I have tried everything my doctor suggests and in the event that it was not working well, I called immediately and asked them what to do. I didn't simply stop taking the medication. I think doctors look for "red flags" and while its not right, they do. One of the flags is not trying what they suggest be it medications, epidurals, or things like that.

Others will be around to chime in and perhaps you will like what they say better than my opinion but I do not think this will go over well. Maybe you can try what she suggests and you'll find yourself surprised. Or, at least, she will see that you are willing to try and she'll be more receptive to your suggestions for what works. When I first went to pain management I would have rubbed unicorn saliva on my head if they said it takes away pain. LoL

Thanks a lot. That is what I thought. I will see how it goes. Maybe she will fire me. My old pain doc. was not like that. He was compassionate with all the things we tried.

I did not know all of the side effects and interactions with these drugs. She did not explain anything about it to me. After I got home I did some research and found out all about them. So if I had known beforehand, I would have said no to the desipramine right away. I told her at the appt. that I was very wary of many side affects, but she told me to forget about them, and just take the medecine.

I wanted to try the Nu****a and I did, but it was not a good experience. Period.

I will fire her, before she fires me. After all, she may control medicine, but I control what I put in it. So be it. We shall see.

I have been around the block lots of times. Not a youngster here. So if we can't come to some sort of likeable agreement, I will move on.

After all, she should have told me more about what the interactions could be. In all the years I have been taking tramadol, not one doctor ever told me about the counterindications. Never. My gp gave me flexiril and he knows I have been on tramadol for years. So, he never said anything. I think he doesn't know.

I learned a lot from this forum and so, I will be vigilant from now on.

Again, I am glad to be a part of this group and am grateful for your advice.

Usually they make of copy if your divers lic or state id, both have pictures and ID info on them. The picture thing sounds kinda strange to me too.

I'm finding it more and more common to have my picture taken to be attached to my charts. I don't have a problem with it. It also helps the practitioners and nurses know in advance what the next patient looks like. Not to mention, it's a good way to see if there are changes occurring.

At my onco, I had to have my picture taken, and of course by the time she came in to take it, I was already in my johnnie. (I'm very quick like that,...it's actually more of a hassle, for me anyway, taking time away from the appointment while the doctor steps out (and usually sees another patient) just so I can take my shirt off and whip a johnnie on. I can do this all in under a minute.....I don't need to be left sitting on a hard chair for 15 minutes. It's not like I'm getting out of a corset or gown!

Anyhoo, didn't realize it at the time, but that pic goes on my cancer patient treatment card that I have to show every day. I scan it at the front desk to "log in" and both my rad technician and nurse require it to match it up to my chart. They also use it to constantly verify information. Once you learn why so many different people ask the same questions to verify the same stuff,....you don't get annoyed!

So nope, I'm used to it now. All my records contain my photo (and needless to say, not a single one is remotely flattering).

Did you know, they do this for my dog too!! They took his pics at our vet in MA, and again at our vet in NH when we moved. It's on every report they give me after every visit, with all his info. He looks adorable in all his pics though!

I actually feel safer knowing they have my photo on file. It also reduces the chances of me being confused with a different patient!

I am really happy your second appt went well with you CP doc. I was to late to chime in on your problem. But I was going to tell you since you were prescribed Nucynta a (Cll) drug that your second appt shoud go well if you are honest with you doctor. 1-Nucynta 100mg tab=28mg of P.O. oxycodone so you doctor was putting you on a good amount of narcotics but they just didn't work for you. I also had a problem with Nucynta 100mg tabs It just wasn't for me...

Doctors' offices take my pix too..
I asked why & was told to prevent insurance fraud.
Also copied my drivers license for same reason.

Strange feeling to have to walk on eggshells w/dr but most of us do IMHO

i also had my pic taken at my surgeons office when i first came in on my first visit. didn't really give it a second thought as to why. anyway back to the topic, a while back i was giving a script for something,(sorry i don't recall what for) was quite some time ago. took it to my pharmacy and after i picked it up read the instructions as i always do with all my meds. and it had so many bad side effects that i returned it to the pharmacy. called my doctor and explained what was going on and she had no problem
writing a different script. though me and my doc had a pretty good relationship.
