A link between Depression and physical pain?

I am so numb... My sister killed herself last night. I knew she had a lot of physicalppain but I had no idea she was depressed. I've heard of a link between the two.

I'm sorry if this is off topic, I guess I just need answers right now on how this couldhappen. She had everything... Money, beauty, an adoring husband, twin children... The things I dreamt about growing up. And now I've lost my only sister.

Linds, I am so very sorry for the loss of your sister. You & your family are in my prayers. Yes, depression & chronic pain go hand in hand for some reason. A lot of us here at the forum are on medication because of the depression.

So sorry to read about what you and your family's loss...

I definitely feel there is a link...There are times I have some dark thoughts due to my pain...it can be a rough road for all of us...

I am so sorry to hear of this tragedy. This is such a tremendous loss. And yes, there's definitely a connection,....more reasons the medical community needs to make that distinction instead of stigma provoking fear.

Please accept some big cyber hugs,....I cannot imagine how you are feeling at the moment.

Also, please keep posting to let us know how you are coping with all of this grief. Remember we are all here for you.

My. Sympathies & prayers are with you & yours.

Please come back & keep in touch... we are here for you .

Please also remember you can use other areas on this forum too like the one for depression.

You are in shock & grieving.. please ask for whatever help you need.
Remember to eat & drink - make a list, set alarms / reminders, etc to make sure you take care of yourself

If you'll are comfortable with doing so please use / consider counseling for the family & friends .. we ourselves have family friends who have experienced suicide & the now-grown daughter & I have spoken about this: I suggest this based on those conversations.

My sympathies Linds and they dont often show us signs to forsee what their intentions are. Ive lost two of the most important people in my life in this manner and i know how hard it hits you,wondering what you missed,how you didnt see it. Sometimes,most times there is nothing to see.

Linds my deepest condolences, yes most everyone that suffers from chronic pain, also suffers with depression. As everyone else has told you here, it just seems to go hand in hand with chronic pain.

Linds may Gods Peace be with you! I am truly sorry for you, and all your families loss!

Thank you all for the hugs and posts. I am numb right now and really, really shocked. I feel like I'm in a fog or a dream. I am definitely going to seek counseling if I can find someone who will take medicaid. I'm very worried about my dad right now because he doesn't deal with emotions well. He bottles everything in.

Thank you again for being my online family and for letting me talkabout this.

I am so very sorry to hear about your sister.  I'll be praying that you will find peace and strength in the coming days.  I'd also encourage you to talk to a professional counselor.  There's nothing more important you can do for yourself during this devastating time than to have some help working through your own feelings.  Blessings to you!
