Thought I'd give an update. I'm having a discectomy and spinal fusion tomorrow. I've had four years of problems and this will be my fifth op. Praying this puts an end to all the pain I've had. I'm a nervous wreck but as ready as I can be.
Only problem is I've developed a cold. I've phoned the hospital and spoken to the ward sister. She says if it's just a head cold she is sure they will do it. It's ultimately up to the anaesthetist. Just praying it goes ahead. I'd hate to have it delayed just because of a head cold.
Please pray for me, I appreciate it.

Jane,
I hate to pry but I am in the beginning of all this L5-S1 herniation and surgery is soon to be in my future. Can you tell me briefly first if all 4 surgeries were for the same area, and what did you have done, and why the return. And most importantly what would you have done differently
Many prayers and best wishes

Good luck Jane! I know what your going through, and understand the nerves being on edge a bit. You will do fine! Take care of you first, and don't worry about
posting until your able to do so without much effort.
Again Good Luck!

I had a head cold when they gutted me to do my thoracic fusion. I was coughing left and right. The oxygen post op and lozenges stopped my cough and I actually felt better post op lol.

Good luck Jane and hoping this one is the one that works. They usually only worry about
upper respitory involvement with illness pre- op or any infection with fevers. Once they get a listen to your lungs and your vitals they will decide whether postponing is needed.
Try to update when you can.
