Advise on this

about two weeks ago I had a follow up with one of my doctor's (2 in this office and they rotate on me) and he comes in and proceeds to tell me about my recent MRI of my neck, said I had two masses one at C6 and a atypical one at T1 which he said was bigger and that he wanted me to go and get a bone scan done, just to rule out a few things and that if he needed to refer me out to a neurosurgeon he'd get me in touch with the best. (he said that about the neurosurgeon 3 times). and I then go to check out and get my refills and then the fun began...

By Tuesday (1 whole week later) the following week no word on anything so I called the doctor's office to see if they'd get on with scheduling me for the bone scan as doctor did want a rush on it.

Wednesday, I was out when the Hospital called to schedule an appointment, so I returned the hospital's call and they said we don't do those at this location, so they put me on hold (which is very loud annoying music) and I get transfered to the correct hospital, I said I needed a bone scan and my doctor wanted it Stat (which is what he told me), so they said they could get me in on Friday at 8a.m and to be there at 7:30.

So on the 21st March I'm at the Hospital and they said we don't have you scheduled, and I said yes I have an appointment, she corrected and said yes, but it's for the 28th. I said no I told them my doctor wanted it by the 25th and wrote "Stat" on it, well she says we haven't filed your Insurance, (so all heck breaks loose as far as I'm concerned) for the following 2 hours they try to file with insurance and get me in to no avail, so they call me up at last saying we can get you in, but we need to fill in the paperwork.

(Why on earth would they even schedule an appointment without Insurance verifications! I'm still angry about that point!)

So, I start the paperwork and they ask for payment of 497.21 and I pay and after all that, after all that. They say they can't get me in, I call hubby as I was just so increibly( SP?) terribly mad. We go home and on Saturday I write a letter of complaint to the Hospital and send it via green card for a signature.

I rescheduled doctor's appointment, on Wednesday they got the green card.

On Thursday (yesterday the hospital called saying insurance would not pay for the bone scan, so I call the insurance and find out that the doctor wrote it for "pain".

So, Now I got a rush appointment on Monday 4p.m. with my Doctor (Do not know which doctor at this point)
and a possible appointment with the Hospital for Thursday for the bone scan.

What I need to know is advise from y'all as to what I need to ask my doctor to get this bone scan done...

My life is a nightmare right now and I'm just so frazzled, mad and disappointed with everyone.

Have y'all ever had this much of a nightmare? and I'm having problems with my throat and swallowing is difficult. The one nice thing was yesterday I went to have a cry on my bed and my tinyest kitty Tristan came up to my face and licked a few of my tears aways...

What do I do now??? and at this point I don't care.

I do not know why the hospital staff had me pay the monies, but I'm very upset about it...and I have to keep my RA doctor notified of what's going on, in case I get the neurosurgeon referral. I'm tapering off the methotrexate (RA Med) just in case as well, plus I was getting reactions from the medicines which I'll need to ask the RA doctor about. So too much going on and all this whirlwind.

I did call the Insurance yesterday and that's why I have the urgent visit with the doctor on Monday, so the paperwork can possibly be re submitted properly for the bone scan.

Thanks, but, with what the MRI picked up it's not being done for osteoporosis.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean it was being done for osteoporosis. I meant that was the only thing I could think of at the moment that it would pay for. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Yes, nuclear bone scan with the radioactive dye. just hard trying to recall all the details...it's to make sure it's not cancer. The did say most are beign but the MRI has mine as atypical so I'm trying to stay positive and I do have references for the best neurosurgeon and have an idea if I need to go that route.

Hopefully I can get things cleared up at the doctor's office on Monday, but I hate paying $60.00 for having to get it cleared up on their end...

Nope never had one before, but I do have a travel cross-stitch piece to work on so my husband will drop me off and then I'll stitch until noon and have my hubby drive me home after we get some lunch and then he'll go back to work. At least that is the plan. Now getting everything set up correctly from the doctor.

Just want to so be done with it. I'm not afraid of this proceedure.

Hi chartreux, I didnt read everything, but that really sounds like how my whole past year or so has gone with work comp, just trying to get my meds. Its been just one nightmare after another, and almost completely due to very lazy, incompetent staff, who dont ever file their paperwork.

just to give you a heads up-the scanner will come incredibly close to you. Like it's going to squish your nose type of close. That's the only part I don't like. You are always able to see around you and never get completely enclosed like in an MRI.

Just got back in from my Doctor's appointment and they did charge me $60.00 to get this insurance issue striaghtened up but they'll apply it to my next office visit. So good and bad news, they will resubmit my paperwork now with the proper dx for the bone scan, could use prayers to get this threw stat, they will mark it stat and urgent. Plus I got a copy of the mri results and will give a copy of this to my RA doctor and I have started reducing the methotrexate (RA Med) just in case the neuro surgeon recommends surgery.Thanks

Part of the reason I'm mad is my grandmother died of Pancreatic Cancer, it had to have started some place, so that gives me a slightly higher risk of this being cancer...
Screw you doctors! Stay away from Dr. Chris ***e Pain Management in ClearLake/Pasadena Texas, apparently they will not work will getting things done, Lies...they'll tell you we'll get this push through, yeah right...First they got the dx wrong, I was there late on Monday trying to make them understand I had an appointment for Thursday for the Bone Scan, apparently it goes in one ear and out the other, called insurance and nothing verified and just had to cancel the Bone scan! Hospital has $497.21 of my monies for a test my Doctor will not work with me on to get ordered! I have a right to be mad about all this...

If you'll look it up I spelled this doctor's last name correctly, I did not need spell check to edit it out...
