Hi,I am new here. Been reading articles for a couple hours now. Very interesting stuff on this site. Anyways, to make a very long story short I have multiple injuries ranging from disk problems to plate & screws in ankle.(2 motorcycle accds .)started with perks then graduated to Oxy's then ended up on 100mg patches. Good for 72hrs. Then every 48hrs. So I decided to go to detox &.quit after taking for 3 yrs. Dr. gave me Valium, PMS pills & 1 other pill? Stayed 4 days, could not sleep for more than 45 mins.at a time, could barely eat, it was HELL! So I came home & had been on couch for 19 days only leaving house to go to Drs. 0 energy, injuries r killing, not sure what to do. Went to Drs.& he gave me vitamin b1,b6 & b12 shots. Have had 3 so far, might be working a little but certainly not enough ! Would really like any suggestions or replies on how long I will feel like crap for. I did hear that it builds up in fatty tissue, I don't really have an issue with that though.

With most medications a person will be over the worst of the detox in 3 to 4 days after taking the last of the medication and be completely detoxed within 4 days to a week.
It kinda of sound like to me that maybe you are detoxed but the pain, loss of appetite, etc you are experiencing are actually due to your injuries,

Not to sure about
that. I have been getting shots that are pain blockers(only once since detoxing)& that specialist says fentynol can stay in your system for up to 4 months. If anyone knows about
this , please let me know

Hi and welcome to the forum and that Drs would be absolutely correct. Most short acting meds leave your system within a week to ten days. Fent, methadone, and oxyC are a whole different ballgame, fent&methadone are two of the hardest meds we use and why Drs are most reluctant to use but there comes that time when you do what you have to do.
The longer and higher doses you take matters as well. I stopped 13 yrs of methadone and it was months before my sleep, mind, thoughts, and energy returned. When it did I was like a new soul!! Lol, I could see better, hear better, taste better, and the foggy thoughts dissipated and I was nolonger caught in a bubble, thats how I had began to feel, nothing fazed me.
I was just as you on my 1st two attempts that failed. The third and last time I had a different Dr and we discussed ways to make this work and he was willing.
I tapered as low as I could go,15mgs/daily then we started the Butrans patch at 5mcg and clonidine patch. This combo was my salvation. Once the butrans kicked in I regained my energy some each day,I was able to sleep regular intervels and thanks to the clonidine I ate healthy,my b/p stayed within normal and my headaches stopped.
It still even with butrans onboard took a couple of months to clear my system of all the meds. I then stopped the butrans and started 15mgs of morphine twice a day but after resetting the pain receptors felt that was overboard. Today 6 months out after the ordeal I take just 15mgs of morphine daily with lyrica and voltaren gel and pills. I feel much better then I have in 13 years and the very meds that were slated to save my life at that time and return my quality of life was actually robbing me of my very self.
Meds like fent, methadone, buildup in your organs, saturate fatty tissue and the over abundance is stored in your bone marrow. There in is the reason your drained, exhausted and lack energy just as any bone marrow disease or illness effects the cell count and wbc's so it is with the meds drawing onto the bone marrow to drain whatever reserves stored there.
Its important to stay overhydrated, eat healthy iron enriched foods, and get exercise of some sort. I started using hydrotherapy on a daily basis during this time as water is much less tiring to move in. The warmth of the pool also is priceless.
I know that my goal was to attain med free status but we always knew that may not be possible. I did however give my body a rest, had a time to really reevaluate my pain levels post surgical procedures and require far far less narcotics today.
I wish you luck and hope your nearing the end of this ordeal. If you think your not making it you might look into the options of short term subutex or butrans, talk to your dr and maybe together you can find a better way to the end.

I really appreciate the feed back. I am starting to realize I may not be able to be drug free. Every morning I get up in pain, try not to take perks but can't seem to get anything done. Only taking 2/day, but still feel really sick to stomach. Are there any good ptain meds. That are not narcotic? I am much clearer in the head but trying to weigh the pros & cons. Pain can be overwhelming at times ,not sure what to do. I know I am going to start work again within a month or so, trying to figure out before then

Not sure how much help the non narcotics are going to be if your in that much pain. Rest assured we all have been to the point of wanting and even attempting to ditch our meds some find it possible after repairs and surgery, some cant. Its a personal decision and one you need to give great thought to. Is your quality of life on the meds such that you can function? Without them? If your not getting up doing things, living life to the best you can on or off you really have to look at whether thats the way you want to exist.
I had gotten to the point on methadone I was pretty useless, sleeping far more then I should,no desire to do or go anywhere anymore and never looking forward but always back. I didnt want to live what may be my last decade like the one I just had and clearing my system out and starting anew was the greatest thing I have done for myself.
I believe resetting and reevaluting my pain levels and receptors was a much needed thing. I am on far less meds now with better pain control all around.
There are far less harsher meds that are scheduled then fent. Having cleared your system of fent may turn into just whats needed for you too.
Ask your Dr about
some of the newer meds like Nucynta, butrans, and as for lighter weight then the percs have you tried Tramadol? Its now scheduled but at a III and many people have good relief with fewer side effects. There is a lot left as far as med options and getting your Dr onboard and letting him know the pains just not going to allow you to be medfree at this point is your best option.
Dont ever let anyone make you feel bad for wanting and seeking a better quality of life!!

Thank you for the feedback, I greatly appreciate it. Been on pain meds. Consistently for 10 yrs. on & off prior due to wide range of injuries. I certainly feel better with perks( mentally & physically),I just know the road to well & I am afraid of where I will end up. The body will eventually get immune & will have to keep increasing dosages to suit needs. I have never heard of those meds.until joining this site. I will definately mention to my dr.& see what he says. Once again, tx. So much
