question of the day..i just watch a commercial for lyrica and it was for diabetic nerve pain.
is anyone familiar with diabetic nerve pain and what the difference between that and
regular runof the mill nerve pain. thanks in advance. the commercial just caught my
attention.... rolleyes

The main difference is the reason for the nerve pain. Diabetic nerve pain is caused from diabetes.

hey jim, thanks. i was kinda thinking just that. so my nerves in my legs feel pretty well shot.
i was on lyrica for a while and had some bad reactions to it. (shaking, confusion) so got off that.
now i'm on nuerontin 800mgs three times a day. for the most part it helps out. no side effects..

Diabetic nerve pain starts in the peripheral nerves.

My nerve pain starts in my neck. The messages from the slightest touch are garbled at the point of injury (crushed spinal cord) and the brain interprets everything it does not understand as pain. So I feel pain, even though it is not there. My pain is not relieved in the slightest by opioids. My peripheral nerves test just fine.

Something similar can happen when there is a pinched sensory nerve. This is where facet joint nerve injections and ablations can help. There are other types of pinched nerves and injections.
