This MRI is from exactly 3 years ago. (April 2011) My PCP understands the pain, other dr's understand it but there are some that don't and my new PM dr is one of those who don't understand it....or doesn't want to understand it. Anyways I'm going to type in what my report says about
the spine. It's an MRI report of my car accident so there may not be things in there that pertain to the back. If any of you could help me understand the report and see if anything in here would be causing my pain in my spine. My PM DR is passing it all off onto fibromyalgia and although yes I do have fibro I still think there's something else in my back/spine causing me pain. Also my dr says the fracture would have healed. Yes & no bc I never even knew I had a fracture in my spine and I know my back spine pain started out around age 9 I had been abused on top of having to pick up an adult and my lil sis weighing about
the same as me when I was younger, they were in wheel chairs. Here's just the tip of the iceburg abuse that could cause the fracture....being hit in my spine (thorasic area) with a baseball bat, & a 300 lb full grown male punching me repeatedly in my thorasic area. Never knew I had it so it was never treated & might have kept getting injured while it was fractured. Sorry kind of long, please read this, please please please help me understand what this all means. I need your guys help trying to figure out what could be causing my pain in my back/spine. Thank you
MRI Report:
- Severe anterior wedge compression fracture of T9. Surgical clips are seen in the paraspinal region area. (Those might be the staples in my heart, idk though) This is probably due to an old fracture. It does not appear acute. (what does that mean "it does not appear acute"?)
- Severe stenosis in the distal right subclavian vein probably due to compression between the clavicle & first rib. There are some developed collateral vessels seen in the right shoulder & posterior upper chest and also in the neck. (Ok, what the....did I just read, lol.)
- severe T9 compression appears old. It is an anterior wedge-type compression fracture with resultant mild to moderate kyphosis. There are postsurgical changes seen in the paraspinal soft tissues adjacent to this. (I know kyphosis means there's a curve caused from the compression. Wouldn't the curve alone cause pain? Also what does it mean by it's an anterior wedge-type compression fracture? Also, the only surgeries I know of that I have had are heart surgery, is the "postsurgical changes" from the heart or have I had back surgery & didn't know it?)
- Thoracic spine CT scan shows a T9 hemivertebra. (What does that mean?)
Results of CT scan of spine:
- Multiple thin cut axial images were obtained of the cervical spine with multiplanar reconstruction in the coronal & sagittal planes. (What?)
- FINDINGS; There is a failure of segregation of the C2 & C3 vertebrae. The disk spaces fuzed by bone & facet joints are fuzed by bone. This may also reflect postoperative or posttraumatic change. A corticated defect noted involving the posterior bony arch of the C1 vertebrae, compatible with congenital segmentation. (Please help, can someone explain any of that to me? I'm SO confused.)
- Heterotopic ossification noted posterior to the left C2 lamina. (Does this have anything to do with my spine? If so, what does it mean?)
