I am 2 weeks post anterior cervical discectemy with fusion/graft from.hip

after about 11 months of agonizing pain I finally went through an anterior cervical disc ectomy. From what I was told the surgery went well without any problems. Been taking nucynta before pain and Valium for muscle relaxer. Prior to surgery I had physical therapy and spinal injection and more physical therapyI also had chiropractic therapy including traction therapy wanted to make sure that all bases were covered before going into a surgery. My biggest problem right now is I build up an instant or close to an instant tolerance to pain medication.I am taking the meds when I need to usually late at night. my biggest problem right now as I am extremely exhausted. I can't stop sleeping I wake up at 7 o'clock in the morning try to work on homework that I need to do for my college class that is coming to an end and wake up half hour later 45 minutes later Paris I can't stay awake longer than 2 to 3 hours.. I don't know if that is normal if it is in the reaction that my body is having to trying to heal but in this concerning me.

Hello & welcome to the chronic pain forum. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate right now juggling school & taking care of twins. How long has it been since your surgery?

I think perhaps you should talk to you dr about the tolerance issues you are having with pain meds & he should know how to handle that. I really cannot answer the question about your sleep thing either. I would also talk to the dr about this too.

The best thing you can do is follow the drs post op instructions to the letter. Trying to rush things a long will only cause you set backs and it's just not worth it. Give yourself time to heal properly. Things may look healed on the outside but things are not healed on the inside.

You need to really be kind to your body & let the healing take place. I know its probably tough with twins, but how well you take care of yourself post op has a huge impact on your recovery.
