I have a question....I am 3 weeks post op from having my acdf done of c5-6...The pain I had before was gone after the surgery and I have felt really good up till now....now I have excruciating pain in my left shoulder...it was all on the right side before...even when I'm sitting in bed and go to reach behind me to pull up my pillow and get it situated before laying down kills me it hurts so bad. Could this be surgery related? Maybe it's something new all together....not really sure but the last couple of days have been quite painful...
Am also having pain in my knees...thinking maybe that is arthritis and due to the rainy weather we have been having. Still taking percoset after having the surgery but it doesn't seem to touch this pain at all.

I would ask your surgeon if it's that bad. Any pain in any area post-op that doesn't seem to be surgery related needs to be checked out to make sure nothing else is going on.

Glad you are seeing relief from the surgery otherwise.

Yes, ask the doctor. You could have some swelling that could be reduced with a course of Prednisone. But I'm certainly not a doctor.

I developed shoulder pain about 8 weeks after cervical fusion and one of the times it hurt was just like you said when I tried to pull my pillow up. Another time it hurt was in taking a shirt off over my head. I saw my dr soon after that, he was sending me to PT anyway so that's part of the treatment. PT does not really think it's related to surgery and it is getting better. I've read of several who have had shoulder pain after surgery so I really wonder if there is a connection. My next doctor's appt is June 11th...I hope it goes quickly to get here! I am now also having pain in the left side of my neck...not sure if I just turned my head to far too many times or what and I'm also having a problem with pain in my right leg which I never had before....it seems to be worse in the early mornings and than again at night...from my groin area all the way down....there is pain and it almost feels like jello when I try to walk...not sure if that is something else going on or what.....hope to get answers for all of it at my return appt.
