New form of pain

5 years ago, I had a complete disk blowout. Two laminectomy's later then they tried a complete artificial disk replacement. Needless to say all surgeries failed. Ivied tried therapy, narcotics .acupuncture, and a host of other crap. My newest development is after three years of suboxone therapy and two years before that narcotics. I've developed migraines, tension and mixed headaches. I'm torn as what avenue to take next. I'm seeing a therapist and Psychologist Her suggestion is medicine therapy.But feels I need to be taken of suboxon first then reintroduced to standard narcotics. please help with some intelligence.

Merrida is right and there comes a time in this journey when we simply have to accept that this is our life like it or not. If that entails living the rest of it on medicine therapy, PT, injections or whatever we've found to work in the smallest of ways.

Sub is notorious for causing rebound headaches and the longer the usage the worst they seem to be. First question is have you tried switching to Subutex? It's lower in the headaches causing category simply because the NAL is eliminated in the formula.

Second concern is do you have a Dr willing to go back to conventional narcotics therapy? Many DR's will not ever treat with opiates after someone has been on Sub regardless of whether you were using as a pain med or addiction therapy. They are archaic in the beliefs and uneducated in the uses of Bup in any form other than an addiction deterrent.

I'm glad you joined us and I hope you can make the best decision to bring you the relief needed.

My first thought would be to try one of the many meds used to treat migraines to see if any of those help with the headaches. Narcotics can actually cause rebound headaches for true migraines.

Just my 2 cents worth.
