Acute lower left stomach pains.

Hey guys, just after some help and it may take a bit of explaining so bare with me. Any advice is so very appreciated.

Ok, so every now and than the left lower side of my stomach has acute pain, sometimes to the point where I feel like I can't walk around and if I do I have to crouch over and hold my stomach and even than I don't get very far and have to lay down again. The pain has only ever lasted about 2 days max and than it goes away (but it always comes back). I am female and did have a baby 7 years ago and have been told it could be my period, however the pain is random and often happens nowhere near my next cycle or sometimes around my cycle. It has been going on for almost 5 years (so two years after I gave birth), however it started to come and go much more the past 2 years, I can't say anything has changed in my life since that two years so unsure why it got worse other than the fact I haven't been able to treat it. I have been to numerous doctors who have ruled out all the obvious causes like STD, Cysts, appendix and pancreas issues. They are all unsure what it could be but I really need help. I am not on any medication, and my only allergy is penicillin (which I haven't had since I was two years old).

I would just like to find out what is causing this so I can fix it, so any ideas or similar experiences would be very helpful. Thanks guys. Also this is my first time on this site so I have put this in the right area, sorry if I haven't.

Hi Anon and welcome.

Since you're mentioning your left quadrant, is it possible that it's related to your digestion and elimination?

Have you consulted directly with both an internal medicine doc as well as your OB/GYN?

What information did they relay to you to consider?

I've always experienced random acute bounds of pain in the lower left quadrant, and I figured it was my ovaries. But I'm well through menopause, I've been examined and scanned and everything's negative.

I've come to relate it (in my personal case) to my bowels and even gas!

Welcome Anon to HW. Merrida has some good ideas and since its not a daily or even common occurrence it's likely related to gyn. Your female organs are undergoing change everyday of that 28 day cycle. Pain in the areas do not have to happen immediately before, during, or after. Some women experience more pain, bloating, water retention earlier or later in the cycling. It's possible is just that, early endometriosis, or as she said could simply be digestive related in nature.

If it continued to bother you or gets worse you could see Internal Med or gastro dr.

You might want to see a gastroenterologist about this. LLQ is the place you usually see sigmoid problems - diverticulosis and such. It could just be constipation, but if it gets intolerable go to the ER. It can be life-threatening if a diverticulum ruptures.
