New here...

good morning everyone. Been trying a week to join and post. Found this site a few weeks ago and it changed my mental outlook immensely. I'm sad so many suffer from cp issues. But so thankful others will understand my heart now. I've worked all my life to support my 6 kids alone. Been a single parent for most of my life since 28. My kids are grown with families of their own now. My chronic pain journey began in 06 with breast cancer followed by treatment . Following year hysterectomy and that's really when my body begin it's total breakdown. Had ulnar transposition surgery and carpel tunnel surgery and then Osteoarthritis in knees shoulders and back. In June of 2013 had my 3rd knee surgery for torn ligaments and ripped menisci. Went back to work and was laid off after 14 years. No unemployment because I worked for a church and was basically like I fell off the face of the earth. Lost my home personal belongings everything in July of 2013. Blessed to have a son and wife who gladly opened their home to me. Been with them a year. Having a horrible time finding even a part time job because of limitations physically . Still waiting for disability. Insurance a total shock after having excellent bcbs ppo. Medicaid is tough to deal with. System is so overrun and the stigma associated with it affects me mentally. My Pmd is great and accepted seeing me after insurance change last year. That was a blessing. Pain that I live with us steadily getting worse and they've upped Meds from hydro 10 to oxy 10, diflocanac and neurotin. Yuck don't do well on that. And blood pressure spike high with NSAID and neurotin so not on that regularly. Anyway just a hello and so thankful to find this site and forum. Just need support and would live to share any insight I've gained in my state on laws and changes here in the past year. Pharmacies etc. Anyone from ok on here? Be blessed and full of strength today! Don't give up on your Disability.It took me 1 1/2 years for me,counting the appeal.

Lots of great people here in all shapes of disrepair.

O and Rick, yes I know about the lengthy disability wait...I filed in July and JUST received my paperwork to fill out and send back. Expecting patience to be a virtue in this situation for sure. In the meantime I crochet and sell crafts to contribute something to the household. Hope your doing well today...what happened with your knee scopes? Why did you have to have them? And what plans for your back?

Many nights I've just scanned the forum. I don't know why but it brings comfort and relief somehow. I know u have to learn to live with these issues . Going from an active productive life to just praying I can get out of bed everyday is a big change for me. And trying not to focus on the pain . That is worse thing ever. Sigh it's exhausting.

Hi rick, I can only imagine your relief at that battle being won. I am checking Into lawyers for this now.

I had to giggle when you mentioned the lawn mowing. It's one of my favorite things to do in spring and summer. But afterwards ugh I'm down at least two days sometimes three. Ouch! I only did it once this year and then my son said no more. He even his the gas can from me and made sure the mower was on empty. I feel like a little kid sometimes...lol

My kids are in so much pain over losing their father each one handling it differently. It was a gruesome motorcycle accident which makes it worse. He was hit from behind by a vehicle that didn't see him doing 85 mph. Horribly sad for all involved.

Hi Cheri and welcome to the forum. Glad to know there are folks out there reading and finding comfort in just knowing they are not alone.

I lived in Vinita OK for several years back in the late 90s and know it well, have some family in White Oak still living.

I'm also a knee painy and have had 6 surgeries and a full and partial replacement.

Glad you finally got in and I apologize for the difficulty in the prolonged process last week but some settings for the forum had to be temporarily changed in registering due to some mass foreign spammers we had trying to get joined. Its back to normal registering now.

Thank you for the welcome Vickie. What part of OK did you live? I'm right smack in the middle of where the may 20 2013 tornado was in Moore. 6 more miles north and I'm pretty sure I'd have been smashed on I35. At any rate, I'm just so thankful for HW. So many do not understand chronic pain and the energy it takes to battle pain day in and out. What exactly is a partial knee replacement? Ive watched videos on total knee replacements ( don't judge, if they are going into my body I want to see what they'll be doing. Lol I'm sure it's a control issue with me and the love of medical science) but anyway just trying to understand a partial vs full.

Good morning! Sorry Rick didn't mean to shock you so. I was at one time majoring in health science and physical therapy. When things got rough with physical issues and life my education was the first I had to eliminate. Too much of a demand with raising kids working and then full time school. I've taught myself massage therapy since school isn't an option even now...my oldest daughter is a paramedic so I am blessed with that.

Ya I can still trim rose bushes and hedge a little but our back yard is on a slope so that is out for sure. The front yard is smaller but still out. I planted a small garden and enjoy the veggies and flowers but anything else is off limits. My son is the greatest. He works so hard and doesn't hesitate to help me out. He's been a rock for me through every surgery and now taking me in when I lost my home. It's very hard the changes chronic pain has made in my life but I'm so very grateful to have him willing to take care of me.

I'm not at all happy about the idea of back surgery either. And I know I will have to do one knee at a time. They won't do them both. That would be be very tough recovery, but as bad as both are I don't see how the bad knee can carry the healing of the replaced one. I am ready anytime to begin the knee replacements. I know it will be a long road of recovery and prognosis isn't pain free by any means. Just ready.
