Is this scar tissue pain, adhesions?

Hi Upjo, I will tell you some of my experiences with scar tissue. I had multiple knees surgeries on the same knee. I finally stopped at 4. Keep in mind some people tend to build up more scar tissue more so than others, some folks are never bothered with it. With the multiple surgeries fairly close together on this knee I was only able to extend it so far & it was like it was locked at that point. I had a little pain with it, nothing drastic. But the problem was it made certain movements impossible. My knee surgeon knew exactly what was wrong. I had done extensive PT to try to prevent this from happening. Also, drs do not really like removing scar tissue unless it is a have to situation because the odds are pretty good it will come back & possibly be worse the second time around. Also, they can only remove so much without causing other issues.

It is really difficult to attempt to tell what either type of pain is because everyone's pain is so different. The best person to dx this is your dr. But again, like I said scar tissue & adhesions are something sometimes that are best left alone because it can cause a whole set of other issues.

The fact that your pain never stopped after surgery leads me to believe neither of these are your problem. I would get back in to see my surgeon. If he does not want to help, go to your primary care & ask him/her to help you out with this.

I don't know how to identify scar tissue pain from other types, but it sounds awful for you and I'm really sorry it's happening, whatever the cause.
