id like to talk about my dad...

My had is 64, he broke his back when he was 18, and had several rods put in his back. It's funny my mom and dad met through treatment...both were addicted to prescription pain meds. Anyway,after that he has never taken anything else except Tylenol, or aleive for his pain because he also smokes marijuana and does want to go through surgeries that may or may not work or have a doctor scold him for smoking while it work wonders for him. My whole life I've seen him in horrible pain, which affected our lives greatly. He could have not worked and got on disability, but he worked and supported our family and the marijuana helped alot. I did not break my back but do understand the debilitating pain he goes through. I take pain meds to get through my day, but I did live in Colorado 2yrs ago and took very minimal pain meds but did also have a script for medical marijuana. I took cbd pills me and my hubby made. Since moving to a state that does not recognize mmj I take lots of meds and my anxiety has gotten so much worse. I wish it was more recognized as a medicine in more states.

My PMD has approved my usage and thankfully I live in a state with fairly permissible MMJ regulations. Chronic pain is an approved condition (as well as anorexia, which I think is interesting, it is a very powerful appetite stimulant but in my understanding, anorexia is not about not having an appetite ... but I digress).

MMJ is a big part of my pain management. I prefer capsules, edibles, tinctures, etc., to smoking, but it is expensive and smoking is the most economical method.

I have said on this forum many times that I find it unconscionable that drugs responsible for so many overdoses and deaths every year (and that doesn't even take in to account the drain on the system and problems for others when it comes to addiction) are legal but MMJ is so restricted. It's ridiculous.

The problem with MMJ is that doctors aren't trained to advise on forms, dosage, etc. I've wanted help guiding me on which types to use and dosage and stuff but am unable to find anybody I trust so there is a lot of trial and error involved. That gets pretty $$$

So obviously I am very pro-MMJ.

I'm so sorry to hear that.

If it were me, I'd keep my plant. And dare anyone to take me to court for it. I am 100% serious.

There just isn't the will out there to prosecute anyone anymore for possessing a few plants for personal use. It's 'decriminalized' in so many places, we don't even know about it. A lot of cities have their own ordinances allowing it, even if it's not allowed in the state, county, whatever.

I wish I lived in a State that allowed for mmj, I'd try it... I sure hope Texas allows for it soon...

It so needs a federally backed study.

That really is the problem. Opponents say that there's no research to support its efficacy. Well, DUH! Of course not. Because big pharma doesn't see a way to make $$$$ off of it. That's what it comes down to. Proponents of its use can't fund research.

Completely agree - but, the money for big pharma to fund research isn't there because they don't have a way to profit enough from it right now. I'm sure they'll find one, then see how quickly it becomes legal.

I really think you SHOULD grow a plant. I cannot imagine a situation where you'd face prosecution for possessing one plant for personal use. I'm not an expert of course, just my unsolicited and honest opinion.
