I've seen a few posts by people with shingles. I haven't had the experience, probably because I take Valtrex daily for another form of the herpes virus. One thing I have learned after almost 35 years living with this strain is foods to avoid and foods to eat. Foods to avoid: caffeine, nuts, hard cheeses, alcohol, chocolate. These foods contain amino acids critical to the replication of the herpes viruses. The only food rich in the amino acids that hampers replication is flounder, and you would have to eat 2 pounds of steamed flounder to get an adequate amount. Luckily, the amino acid can be found in pill form, L-Lysine. You can find it in the supplement aisle at most stores. Hope this helps some of you.
