Question for anyone with anxiety and chronic pain

Just a quick question for those with anxiety and chronic pain and prescribed meds for both. I have sever anxiety and have been taking anxiety/depression meds and pain meds for a long time. I will never take them both in one day because i'm afraid. My dr says it is ok or I wouldn't be prescribed the but I am still afraid to mix my meds. I take Xanax .25 and Norco 7.5. Today I was having severe anxiety attacks so I needed the Xanax more than anything. Now its been a few hours and my pain is so bad I cant really do much of anything and need my pain meds. Does anyone else have to take anxiety (benzos) AND pain meds everyday for both conditions? I don't want to feel weird or be afraid that taking two meds in one day will hurt me. (yes anxiety is unbearable and it affects me terribly, as does the pain I have). I know dr says it is ok and ill be fine, but I just want others opinions on this subject who are going through/have went through it as well. Thanks.

I took Norco 10 mg. 4 times a day and Valium 10 mg 4 times a day for many, many years with no problems. As your Dr said if it wasn't safe for you to take 2 meds together, he wouldn't have prescribed it. Also, if it wasn't safe, your pharmacist wouldn't have filled it.

Mixing benzos and pain meds under normal and prescribed dosing is safe and the problems arise when people take ungodly amounts of either at the same time or the danger increases with certain narcotics. Norco isn't one of them. CPers have mixed the two safely for decades to treat pain and muscle spasms before the creation of better muscle relaxers.

As for feeling funny you may experience a little lethargy the first few times or like you need a nap but given the small amounts your on I really doubt that. You don't need to suffer needlessly,the Dr would not have prescribed anywhere near a lethal dose so take your meds as directed and relieve both conditions and all will be ok.
