Hello,
Total newbie here! First post..
On June 3 this year, I tripped going up stairs delivering mail, landing VERY hard on my right shoulder. (I work for Canada Post), I knew immediately that I was hurt.. Laid there for about
30-40 seconds, picked up all the mail that had come out of my bag and carried on delivering the mail. That evening, it was quite sore, it continued on for the next few days, I thought oh, after the weekend, it'll have some rest and I'll be "Good to go"...
Monday, I was sorting mail and noticed that my chest hurt,I stated to a coworker that I must be getting sick, of course I was, my husband was out of town, (military) and I was home with 4 children and working full time.. Anyway.. Fast forward to the 11th, by this time, I was having severe pain in my chest every time I'd take a deep breath or move. I went to Emerg that morning.. Doctor diagnosed me with subacromonial bursitis after taking an X-ray, prescribed anti-inflammatories and t3s, gave me 2 weeks of light duty.
Told me if it wasn't better in 10 days to come back for a cortisone shot, it wasn't better, I went back 12 days later and hoped for a miracle in said cortisone shot. Got it, it didn't help, AT ALL! Was supposed to go back to work 2 days later, went and saw my doc the next day, she sent me for an mri and gave me extended modified duties..
MRI: thickening of middle glenohumeral ligament, thickening of labrum, fluid along subscapularis tendon, " strongly believe at least partial tear of subscapularis.. (that's all I can remember) Saw the orthopaedic surgeon, he suggested physio, Sooo, I started physio, using U/S and have been doing this for 4 weeks now, 3 times a week, and my shoulder is literally not ANY better than the day I got hurt.
I have muscle spasms in my shoulder, back right upper part of my back is so hard, I can move it, but am then presented with sharp pains along the front, back and under of my arm, as well as under my shoulder blade. They're wanting to start me on a "program" (as per wcb suggestion) I literally can't do anything without feeling severe pain for days after I use my arm ( I helped my mom hang blinds for 10 minutes last night and when I was done, the injured shoulder was noticably swollen and hard, a535 was applied as well as heat, and it had no affect) Today is no different. I'm terrified that I'm only going to do more damage to my shoulder, is that possible, or will it eventually help? How long can I expect this to continue? I am SOOO over this! :)
I have made some paragraphs in your post to make it easier to read. Some of our members have tracking problems when reading. Thanks.
