withdrawal pain for chronic pain patients?

Hello everyone,

I can barely type because I'm doing so bad with pain, withdrawals, severe insomnia so I apologize in advance if I make any spelling/grammar errors, sorry., I just have one question ( more to come if I get better ).

A little background for ya, I have been in chronic pain for 8 years and on oxycontin, then MS Contain, then dilaudid, then dilaudid and exalgo ER. Anyway I'm going threw withdrawal and the pain is so bad where my pain is that I want to kill myself. I would go to the hospital but they always just tell me to take ibuprofen. Once they gave me tramadol, but all that did was make me feel weird and really crappy to boot, so I personally hate the stuff..no offense to those it works for, I mean that's great for you. Not to mention it gave me really bad insomnia, every time I took one 50mg it kept me up for the entire night and day and did nothing for my pain. I assume it did nothing for my pain because of my tolerance for stronger opiate pain killers. There was only one pain doctor in all of my state, Connecticut, that would take my insurance and now he's gone, he probably found a better job I assume . I was on something called Husky D insurance which was OK I guess, but now I guess im on Obama care. One doctor told me with Obama care I will have even few choices of doctors then before, is this true? That means I had better state insurance (or whatever its called) under president Bush then Obama...what the heck? Seriously? So things are worse under Obama? Why do people vote for people that just make things worse?. I don't get it, I thought Obama was trying to make things better for the hopeless, desperate and poor...I guess not..dang! I had great insurance before my pain but eventually it stopped and I was put on state insurance ( Husky D Insurance in Connecticut, but not anymore now its Obama care I guess . Not quite sure what's going on yet with my insurance and obama care yet * shrugs * ).

Anyway my withdrawals are bad, but what's worse is the pain and the severe sleep deprivation due to the pain. I tried ambien, benzodiazipines, for sleep but my pain just cancels out the sedative/hypnotic effects of the sleeping pills.

My question is my pain is so severe, I mean more severe then when I'm on opiates. I want to know if after awhile the pain will get at least a little less intense. I mean to the point where I can sleep and not want to kill myself from the hundred fold pain I have now? Will it loosen up a bit? Is it just really, really, really, really painful because I'm off pain meds now ? Please tell me it will at least get a little better. If not I will have to go out in the streets and score some marijuana for my pain...what other choice do i have? None, that's what. There is not another pain doctor with my insurance. There was only one pain doctor in my entire state and now he's bloody gone!

What Vickie said, but when you're feeling well enough, you might want to explore your insurance more. There are gold, silver and bronze plans on Obamacare that cover different things and you can choose which one works best, or if your income isn't high enough, looks like there's expanded medicaid in Connecticut.

I'm on expanded medicaid in my state and though it was implemented due to Obamacare, it offers more choices, but more importantly, a PCP who's in-network can refer you to out-of-network (not covered) specialists if they get pre-authorization. My previous pain clinic and my current oncologist were both out-of-network but the insurance pays both. It may not work that way there, but when you're feeling better, or if you can get someone to do it for you, there may be ways to deal with insurance issues.

Sorry I didn't get back sooner but things are still going bad, the pain is a little better but still keeps me up. I have used tamezepam for sleep, its like a half muscle relaxer/half benzodiazipine type of sleeping pill that I could only get from a sleep doctor here in CT. To get tamezepam I had to go threw a whole sleep study to find out why I wasn't sleeping . I didn't do the sleep study for the tamezepam though, I did the sleep study because when my pain first began I wasn't sleeping at all and thought I might of had sporadic fatal insomnia ( a rare form of insomnia that is actually deadly, but just because its rare doesn't mean I didn't have it, so I got tested. )

Because I never had chronic pain in my in my life before and I thought even with pain I should be getting at least some sleep but , it turned out, at least for me, I was wrong. My pain was and will probably always cause severe insomnia. My sleep doctor told me I couldn't sleep at all because of my pain and that I needed to find a pain doctor as well. So that's how I got the temazepam for a little while. In Connecticut you can't get benzodiazipines unless you are dying and need it for something, like a seizure disorder or something. They are really strict here with both benzodiaxipines and opiates, it really sucks because I'm suffering, ya know? I only wish these doctors knew what it was like. I sometimes wish some painful condition on the doctors that don't help me, then I remember I'm better then they are, in terms of sympathy and empathy, and don't wish it upon them because I know how bad it is to live this way, its no life at all really .

Anyway I will come back to this thread again guys, just not doing well still. Ttys

If you go to a Methadone Clinic you need to be aware that it will be neatly impossible if not impossible to find a Dr to treat your pain because you will have a history of being in a program for addicts.

It is doubtful pain drs will sign up to take your insurance because it pays so little. I know someone who is disabled and on Medicaid in Louisiana
They are homeless because they couldn't afford to pay tent and pain management.

I understand what you're saying about the insurance.
