Last Nov. I had surgeries for trigger finger in my middle and ring finger, carpal tunnel, and an ulnar transposition all done the same day. After 10 days all the suturea were removed and I started PT. By Jan. I was doing pretty good and had few complaints of pain or discomfort. In Feb. I slipped and fell hard slamming my hand on the ground, resulting in agonizing pain and signifigant swelling in my fingers and palm. My surgeon was concerned that I may be in the early stages of CRPS and did several steroid injections in the affected fingers as well as my wrist, and said for me to use my hand as much as possible to prevent CRPS. I did so along with PT visits 3x a week. The good news is that I avoided CRPS, but now have developed adhesions from the base of my fingers extending down my palm almost to the wrist, and I have lost the ability to fully extend my pinky, ring, and middle fingers, and they are starting to contract, and cause great difficulty doing normal activities and is extremely painful, especially in my palm. My surgeon said there is nothing else he can do. This by the way is a work injury, so over the past few months I have been referred to several independant exams by hand surgeons that all say the same thing....the adhesions need to be removed. The surgery is not scheduled yet, but I'm wondering what to expect and how invasive it will be, as well as how long the recovery will be. This has been a long and frustrating process and I just want to get back to work. Thanks for your time.
