So I've been trying to get to a pain management doctor. My husband is military and with the insurance and base we are at I'm limited in what I can do. I have to get referred by my doctor, who refuses to send me. He keeps hounding me about the bad effects of long term use of narcotics and won't refer me to the pain management here on the base. I understand the negative effects of narcotics, I'm not stupid, but I honestly think that should be my choice to make. I spend every day at the very least a level 6 on the pain scale. I never go lower than that without pain medication. I have three young children and I just want to not be in so much pain every day. So I've submitted a complaint to the patient advocate here and I'm waiting to see what she can do for me because I don't think my doctor actually believes me about my pain level. I'm frustrated and just want help. I'm willing to do therapy and chiropractic, but I want to do it along with pain management in hopes that I eventually won't need the meds.
