Last year when I was on morphine, constipation was a constant struggle. I got used to giving myself enemas, but one day, a Fleet enema did nothing. Time to panic, as blockage was always a fear.
So I went to my PCP, who immediately admitted me as an outpatient and ordered soap suds enemas till clear. Okay, that's bad enough, but the first nurse who came in was training another, and apparently even she wasn't experienced with the procedure, so she asked another nurse, and pretty soon I had four or five female nurses all staring at and talking about my naked butt and how to administer the enema. Since I needed several in a row--and even the first didn't work, I was so close to blockage--that this went on for maybe an hour.
That made me pretty well immune to any enema-related embarrassment.
