I've been in Jackson, MI for a week now and I' m hurting bad tonight because of the cold and I had to shovel off my car (snow storm) and 1 more week left none of my brothers has offered to take me to dinner except 1 and by that time I had already made a tv dinner, its not easy for me to be here but the way they treat me is no better than a dog. Yet I'm here cleaning out my parents house (they are in assisted living).So, I'm packing up the Franciscan "Poppy" set of dishes to take with me, its a set of eight but, I'm not greedy and only taking a setting for 4.
I'm alone in the house and that's scary, ice branches are scraping the window and my brother sold all the TV's so only a radio and my nook for breaks and I'm hurting!
Sorry, needed the vent. Snowbound until this Monday, cold and alone!
Wish I knew if the car was going to be okay, I shovelled it off once and if I have to do it again I mmight have a heart attack, just turned 50 this month....what should I do?

I decided against going out to shovel off car as I'm not feeling well.

I'm so sorry that you're having to do this alone. Is there a church close to where you are or is their a church of your faith close by ? Maybe you could contact the Pastor/Priest and explain the situation and ask if someone can help. The only other thing that I can think of is to pay someone to help.

My heart goes out to you; I am very sorry that you are solo & not receiving support from your family....A Happy Belated Birthday to you on turning 50! I hope you celebrated, with a delicious cake.

I have read previous posts that you like to cross stitch. I love to cross stitch too! My favourite hobbies are cross stitching & quilting!

I recently joined a SAL 2016 stitching a Scarlet Letter chart Ann Grimshaw. I thought I pass this info to you, just in case you are interested.

I hope your pain, is not bothering you too much. I was hoping to put your mind at ease, with thoughts of cross stitching instead of the daily stresses of family. Please be well...

Your visit sounds absolutely dismal. I'd suggest taking all the dishes, a form of payment for your distress. lol

I agree with CaryF. I'm also sorry to hear you're having to clear out the house solo. My dad recently died & I had to put my mom in memory care so I know what it's like to clear out a house. So many things are accumulated over the years. For those left behind, clearing out a parent's house is a mixed bag of emotions. Throw in memories. Add chronic pain & it's a multi level mixture of pain. My heart goes out to you. It's not good to keep your emotions bottled up. If you don't have anyone to talk to you can always come here. Take care of yourself. My email isn't on my profile but if u do feel the need to talk let me know & I'll post an email address on it. It sounds like we are both in a similar situation.

Since your parents home is an assisted living community, I'm sure they have folks that can help clear off the car. Have you tried calling the office?

Well, I was able to get out today, snow is melting and weather was above freezing.
I probably did a dumb thing but I sold a bunch of indian head pennies for $8.00, they we're not in great shape and on most you could not see the headress good and to me my mom and dad need the money to spend more than pennies sitting rusting, they still have plenty of wheat pennies, and the one note that might fetch money I put in a protective jacket a red $2.00 bill, in time that might be valuable and if mom needs the cash I will sell it and give her the money so that she can live good.none of my brothers are going thru these coins to help me, so...I told mom and Dad I would keep this until they reallyneed the cash.
My parents were horders(sp?). My brother is going to trash their cherished teddies, the dishes, ect...I cleaned out a tool chest for my husband its a small craftsman and he can use it in the garage...
My brother also assigned to me to do a composite photo album and I saw a picture of my cousins and cried they all died from Cystic Fibrosis yearhshhhHh

I'm finally back home in Texas, it was gruelling work and I have a pcp visit tomorrow because I think I might have strep throat...My grey skies are going to clear up and time to be positive again, thanks so very much for letting me rant away, oh and my nook died as I was typing that last message, but the trip was hard on me, so very hard...
