This is my first time posting to the forum. And I am hoping I can get some reviews from anyone who has or has had a SCS implant for lower back/chronic pain. I've had 2 surgeries, a decompression at L5/S1 and I had a fusion S/1 - L2. I still have hardware. Bone spurs, spinal stenosis, and fusion done march 2012. I do have a bulge above my fusion site at T12/T11. Still horrible sciatic issues and bone pain/ache and muscle spasms. And I have lupus and thyroid issues. I see a pain mgmt doctor and a rheumatologist. My meds are Norco 7.5 (60 a month), gabapentin and tizanadine for my back pain. My pain mgmt doctor suggested a SCS and I am doing my research. I have my psych evaluation this week. If I decide to have the implant I will wait until the first of the year/when I have 1 of my bunions corrected.

Hello Amy & welcome to Healing Well. Unfortunately, if you use our search feature here you will find more failures than success stories. The search is located at the top & just type in SCS units & you will find a lot of older threads on this subject. We do ask that you not post on those older threads as we like to keep them off of the main page & there is a chance the member is no longer active here at HW. Its like anything else we try to reduce our pain there is no guarantee it will work.

Have you done the trial, if so how did it go in relieving some of your pain? One thing you want to clear with your pain mgt dr is, if you go ahead with the implant will he continue to rx your pain meds to you. We see lots of drs tell the patient once the implant is done no more pain meds. I have yet to see someone be pain free with a unit.

Thank you for the response. I will search for SCS implants to read up on the reviews. I don't want to get discouraged, and I know everyone reacts different to therapies and medicines. I appreciate you taking time to write. Thank you again and take care!
