Hi all,
New user here and was wondering if anyone has any insight they may share about
my current situation...
Quick background, I've been fighting back is sure for close to 20 years now... I've had two fusions on separate occasion, L5-S1, then four years later, L5-L4... I bet I could check off all procedures offered from Pain Management Practices....
I had a BS Stimulator for over 10 years which worked very well... On my last fusion, the surgeon took it out, without my permission... I was upset to say the least... Reason, it was in his way... PM Dr disagrees... Any case, it worked out for the better as the the Nevero had just been realeased, so I had the trial, quickly followed up with the implant... The Nevro is the best... I couldn;t believe how well it helped with the leg and knee pain... I was able to cut PMeds down to almost nothing...
Unfortunately, not long after, I started experiencing pain in the middle of my back, rapping around to the front... I had this once before, when my BS lead migrated up... Very painful... So, we did x-rays, which didn't help, then went into the procedure room to use the fluoroscopy... She compared with the originals from day of procedure, and low behold, the lead did in fact migrate... Great, problem solved...
WRONG... The pain continued to get worse, and they were unable to schedule me for a week... I did my on line research and found an article on the FDA website discussing the epidural impediment causing pain as I was experiencing...
Discussed with Dr... She didn't think it was, but agreed to have a ct scan... The radiologist noticed what became to be proven discitis and osteomyelitis... Off to the hospital Friday of Memorial Day weekend, with surgery scheduled for the following morning....
They removed my belove Nevro unit, cleaned the area and took some biopsies... I was in hospital for one week having every antibiotic, well it felt like it, dispensed via IV...
I was discharged with a PICC line that allowed for 48 days of IV cubicin... The Sed Rate continued to go downward, where it should be... The Dr issued orders to remove the PICC line, even though the Sed Rate is 38... Picking up with two oral antibiotics for another 8 weeks..
So, should I be concerned about
removing the PICC line with the Sed rate at 37, or go forward with the oral... Keep in mind the acceptable range is 0-15 for men....
Sorry for the rant, thanks to all for listening with your eyes..
