Abdominal pain solution

I have suffered for many years with lower abdominal pain and been through the medical system with no help at all. I was told it's a GI problem by 4 surgeons and at the same time I'm told it's adhesions and it's something for the surgeon to fix by my GI doctor, I was just about to give up. Well the 5th surgeon agreed to remove any adhesions if there were any found. Trust what you feel as there were so many adhesions it took 3 hours for the operation, but I feel pretty good so far. It's 7 days post surgery and I'm eating without feeling like my food is blocked up and the pain that came with it. 2 years of back and fourth but I hope and pray I can again feel somewhat like myself again. Next part is to get off all of the pain medications I can, hope this can help someone who suffered like I did, don't give up.

Hi crohnie & welcome to the forum. That was a pretty long surgery & a lot of scar tissue to remove. Have you had very many prior surgeries for the scar tissue to develop? You know any time there is surgery involved adhesions/scar tissue can build up. Some people tend to develop more than others. Hopefully you are not one of those that tend to build up. Congrats on going with your gut feeling gut feeling & not giving up on finding a dr willing to help you.

The best way to wean off of your meds is a slow taper. I am guessing the Prednisone is because of crohns. There again a slow taper so it doesn't throw you in a big flare. The morphine same way to help ward off withdrawals. The last thing you need is nasty withdrawals on top of healing from surgery. You seem to be doing the right things but don't set yourself up for disaster by trying to get off your meds too fast. Work with your dr on the taper.
