Problems with Caraco oxycodone

Yes, I just experienced my first time with Caraco oxycodone, 30mg. I thought it was in my head, but after 2 1/2 weeks, my pain is still much worse. Not to mention I started getting severe abdominal pains 4 days ago. So bad I almost had my neighbor take me to the ER.

And that was the only thing that changed in my medications, what I eat and what I drink. I was with Winn Dixie pharmacy for 3 yrs, I am disabled with a host of debilitating conditions. Well, they closed all their pharmacies with 3 days notice to their employees, and no notice to their patients. that was handled extremely bad with no thought or compassion for any of their patients. I called them and let them know I will no longer do my shopping there because of the way they handled the closing. Leaving all their patients high and dry. (metaphor)

So, I went to Saveway pharmacy and when they asked whom my doctor was, they had no problem filling my scripts. He is very well respected in our county and is not a pill mill. when I received my oxycodone, 30mg, they were these huge blue pills with a 224 on them. Never took those before. But I questioned the pharmacist about these pills, and she said they were just a different brand of generics. well after what I experienced, I called the pharmacist back and told her my dilemma. She told me Florida statute allows for generic medications to be 8-14% less or more strength. In my case less, but I also had terrible side affects.

Not true. Spoke with the FDA today and all generics are tested against the brand name, and must come within less than 1% deviation. First un-truth. Then later I spoke with the pharmacy tech about getting in another generic because even though I have good insurance, my co-pay would be 600.00 for the brand name, Roxycodone. That does include the 30mg as well. He told me the DEA tells them what they are allowed to order. Another un-truth. They regulate how many class 2 medications they can have on hand at any one time. I spoke with the DEA today, as well. They said pharmacies are free to order whatever generics they wish. And when I gave the FDA the NDC code for this medication, the first 4 numbers came back as a Caraco product, but not as oxycodone. In fact, there was no medication name listed. This may very well be a medication not approved by the FDA. So I was urged by the FDA to submit a complaint, and I am, but he was upfront, they won't investigate without multiple complaints.

I read at least 20 complaints online from people that experienced the same thing as me. Pain is not under control, and horrible side affects. I urge any of you out there that have experienced what I have, to please file a complaint with the FDA. You can make your complaint online at their website, or you can call for a paper form to be sent. The number is 888-463-6332. Please people, take a few minutes to do this. Yes, Pam Bondy did a good thing cleaning up the pill mills and stopping traffic from other counties and states. But in the process, she hurt those of us whom need medication just to be able to get up and do our housework and walk our dog.

Disability doesn't pay much. We need to stand together and let the pharmacies know this medication is unacceptable. And since the code given to the FDA, straight from the pharmacy tech's mouth, he really wants to investigate this. I have read where they have been sited and shut done at least twice for shorting medication. I guess they are back at it. But the FDA needs more than just my complaint. I am also sending in a complaint to the Florida Board of Pharmacies for the un-truths I was told. This medication is obviously the cheapest generic.

But giving a pharmacist's profession, I find it hard to believe that this pharmacist had no idea about Caraco shorting the medication. oh, excuse me, she did know, that is why I was told a Florida statute allowed for 8-10% shortage of the actual medication. I believe I read one shortage they were shut down for was 14%. That's a lot considering they are replacing it with aspirin, Tylenol, Nsaids or acetaminophen. None of which I can have do to my liver condition. I take enough risk with straight pain medication. Federal law still trumps state law any time, any day. Whomever is telling you people generics can deviate 8-12% is lying. Call the FDA, I did. and I was told absolutely not! So if pharmacists are telling you this, they are lying, too. Call and see. I posted the number in my previous post. Just because they are being sold in pharmacies, does not mean they are FDA approved. Please do your homework, because it is incorrect information. The state of FL can say whatever they like, but they still have to follow Federal law. CVS mail order was most accommodating ordering the generics I am used to. Save way Pharmacy told a string of un truths, such as they send us what they want, meaning the DEA, which is Bull. I am now dealing with another pharmacy, and he orders from 4 different venders. The only control the DEA has in FL, is how many class 2 you can order every month. The pharmacy is free to order from whom they want. Apparently, Save way will continue to order Caraco cause it is the cheapest, and probably because it is not FDA approved. I am filing a report with the FL board of pharmacies against Save way, As well. Don't let these chain pharmacies get away with this.
