Medtronic Pain Pump model # 8637-20 with error 8503

I have a Medtronic Pain Pump. I have had this pump since 2014. Today I just had my pup refilled and the meds were increased from 9.5 to 12.5mg. When I went to use the pump I am getting an error code 8503. Does anyone have an idea what this code means? Any help would be very helpful. Thanks, Jason.

I suggest calling your rep at Medtronics. We had a member here that had the same code show up when there was a change in her pump. The rep said it can take 1-2 days for the new dose to kick in & the pump will reset on its own to the new dosage.

I did just that. When I got home form just having my pump refilled and the dose was increased. When I went to use the remote to give me an extra amount that I can do up to 4 times a day. I called Medtronic but it was after business hours on Friday. So I called my doctor. He stated he did not know what the error was either. So I am to come to his office on Monday morning but from Friday to today I have some 10mg Oxycodon and was told to use them to help. Well sleeping bills seem to be the only help until Monday. I was just hoping to find out what the error meant. Thank You for your reply. Jason.

Unfortunately, the drs know nothing about these pumps except how to fill them & make adjustments in the dosage. If you will wait 24-48 hours & try your PTM again this code should be gone. Any time there is a change in your dose you will get this code because it takes that long for the medication that is currently in the catheter to clear out.
