Medtronic battery- very painful

I had a medtronic pain stimulator implanted about a year ago. The battery was implanted in the right side,lower back. It is very painful.
The call center and reP told me to turn it off. Even with the battery turned off, it still very painful. Pain radiates around my but and down my leg. I also have to frequent pee.
I'm not able to see surgeon until the 20th. You can feel entire area where battery is including battery itself.
I was supposed to have it removed last month but I had to get gallbladder removed.
Is this an emergency?
Should I get this removed?
Anyone else having, this issue?
I'm a retired veteran who has severe chronic pain.

Hello Navy & welcome to Healing Well. I am sorry to read about what you are dealing with concerning your SCS unit. In our archives here at Healing Well there are many posts about various problems members encountered with these units. We have seen more failures than success stories.

From what you have posted here you have more pain from the unit. So, since the object of the unit is to decrease your pain not increase pain, it’s not working for you. If this were me I would have the unit removed. Again this is just my opinion & nothing more. The decision is yours alone to make.

As far as removing it being an emergency I look at it from this angle. The drs would have said cancel the gallbladder surgery this needs to come out now. Since that did not happen I think you are safe to wait until December. The flip side is having to wait until then to get some relief.
