Pain Dr Gone for 2 weeks-out of meds

Hey everyone

I don’t know what to do! I have been on Tramadol and hydrocodone for 4 months due to Crohn’s disease and 3 disk bulges in C1, C4, and L5. Well I got my last prescription a month ago and I am now on my last day with meds. My pain dr went out of the country a week ago and won’t be back until the 27th. He never told me he would be leaving and he is the only dr in his practice and has no one on call whatsoever. The office is completely closed. I was in the ER last night due to a crohns flare up where I was prescribed a course of steroids and 10 Tramadol. Does anyone have any advice ? Should I go to an urgent car and explain my situation and see if they will spot me until my appt on the 28th? I’m scared of the pain I’m having and I don’t want to withdraw. I’m already 102lbs and I don’t want to lose more weight for WD symptoms. Any advice would help.

If you have been getting these meds for 4 months & see the dr monthly for your scripts, I do not understand why this drs staff did not advise you of this. My PM dr see's me once a month & before I leave I have my appt for the following month. I am having trouble wrapping my brain around this one.

You can try Urgent Care, however, I will be surprised if they give you anything. Had it not been for the crohns flare, I promise you the 10 Tramadol would not have happened. Today when a patient walks in somewhere complaining of pain they get told we do not prescribe narcotics.

I really don’t understand it either. I’m furious, not a single person mentioned it to me so they just left me hanging. It is irresponsible. I call a week ago to make my my next appt w him and that’s when she informed me. I asked what I’m supposed to do? She said “go to an urgent and see if they can spot us”

It was clear I needed something while at the er, I passed out and was in awful pain and severely dehydrated with a rock hard lump in my ileum and I hardly let them touch. I didn’t even ask for medicine the dr just gave it to me and said make a follow up w my gi. Well now that problem with that is he can’t get me in till December. Ugh so frustrating

If you have a Pain Contract with your pain doctor and you get pain meds from another doctor it could violate your contract. Just because the office staff tells you to go to another doctor and get the meds does not mean your pain doctor will approve.

Have you tried Flagyl (Metronidazole) for your Crohns? Both my mother and my dog use it whenever they have a flare-up.

Regarding pain meds, I take Tramadol ER 300mg, but have all but cut out my BT meds by using agmatine and tianeptine. You might also want to consider kratom as a bridge until you see your PM... I don't know much about the latter, but it is often touted as an opioid replacement.
