The memory loss is a scary thing for anyone..regardless of age. It would probably be a good idea to start keeping a daily log...how you feel morning/afternoon/evening/night, what you eat, drugs (over the counter and prescription) taken, activities and level of exertion, as well as specifics about the things that you are forgetting, etc. For example, are you putting clothes in the car to go to the dry cleaners and then driving around aimlessly without ever going to the dry cleaners? Are you taking the dog collar and leash out for a walk and forgetting to take the dog? Really, really strange stuff, I know, but true story! My neurologist found the log and examples to be very helpful. It took more than a year, but the cause was detected. Without arming yourself with information when you go to the doctor, he/she is really going through a guessing game for the short time you are in the office. I pray that you are aligned with a compassionate and understanding doctor...if not, then don't feel guilty in starting the search for someone else who will care about you as a person...I truly believe there are still doctors out there who really care, but you may have to go through several to find the right "fit" for you. If you can't muster up the initiative to take charge of the doctor thing, then I pray that you will confide in a close friend or family member who can compassionately guide you through the process.
