Zapping feeling?

Hi all,
Every once in a while if I turn my head in just the wrong way I get a creepy zapping feeling in my shoulder. When I have told my doctors about it they never really seem to be too interested in hearing anything about it, they just go onto something else. I have tried to search Yahoo and Google for this symptom, but can't really find much. The only thing I end up finding is Brain Zaps or electro shock therapy type stuff. Does this zap/shoulder electrocution sound like it fits in with a pinched nerve? The surgeon I seen says I have a bulging disk that may be putting pressure on a nerve? If you read my intro post you know that the neruo surgeon doesn’t want me to have surgery and he wants me off my narcotic meds... Yet he offers no solution. Can a bulging disk pinch a nerve (and cause the zapping)? I have had this going on for about a year now, if it is a bulging disk is there any hope that it will unbulge itself? Sorry for the random, scattered thoughts/questions. Thanks.

Look at this site , it sounds like what I have . Its like a electric jolt . Mine runs in the middle of my chest . But now I know I have Chiari and syringomyelia . I take Keppra which stops the jolts. The only way to know if you have Chiari you have to have a MRI. Look at this site , does anything else sound familar.

Mach I use to get that in my cervical area too. Looking down a certain way or looking up a certain way, it felt like electricity shooting thru. I had Radio/Frequency Ablation done of the nerves in my neck and back. Got rid of that nasty feeling. Helped my back as well. That was 2 yrs ago, having back troubles again, so having the back done again. I see a pain mgt dr.

You can obtain a copy of your MRI report from the facility that did it with no problem. Just call them ahaed of time and tell thjem you need the report and they will have it ready for you. You need the reprt for yourself and make your own file up. I doubt your insurance will pay for another this soon as they are expensive. Susie

Mach, oh yes, they can deny anything they want to. MRI's run about $1,500 total, they want to keep costs down, yours is less than a yr old, so I would not be surprised if they said no. I have 2 small disc heriation in my neck, C5-6 and C67, I could have surgery but I am not wanting it at this time. I have a bulging disc at L5-S1, along with facet arthopathy at the same level. The facet joint gives me tremendous pain. With R/F the needle is inserted this is done under fluoroscopy(?) and heated by RF and the nerve endings are burned. This stops the pain signal. This procedure is done by a pain mgt dr. It is not a permanent fix but it has worked longer than usual for me. There is an endoscopic surgery in Tampa, Fl that I am checking out. Susie

I've got a zap feeling that comes from under my right side of my jaw, goes down my neck, into shoulder and back of shoulder,& into my collar bone, it's getting worse, I can't stand this feeling, I have many health problems, fibro, IC, IBS, neuropathy in both legs, TMJ, scoliosis in lower spine, skin problems, dermatitis, eczema, degenerative eye macular disease, severe arthritis in both feet making them bow outward, tear in my right shoulder with arthritis, knees, hips, back arthritis, degenerative spine, I also get if I'm talking on the phone as I have my arm up, on my hand the last 3 fingers go completely numb and tingling, I get a lot of pain right on that ball of the base of my neck like needles going in all around that ball. I do see a pain dr. I've had these problems starting at age 29, I'm 46 now :( life sucks! And I do not want to have any needle going in my spine, I have anxiety so bad, and when I get scared I shake so bad. How can they go in my spine if I'm shaking uncontrollably?!? I'm afraid to tell my dr. And just getting MRI, it's so painful, even when they lift my legs, I have such a big curve in my lower back, I have to sleep in a adjustable bed with the back half way up and legs up :(
