WOW! I see that a lot of people are on the patch. I have MS and belong to that forum. The people there told me to come here and ask my question so here goes. I am on 125 patch due to multilple back fractures, surgeries and many other things. Well, I was doing fine with the patch that just came off the plastic completly and laid flat. Then, when I got my last script filled, the patch had changed. It now has this stiff "plastic like" stuff that stays on. I guess that the company thought it would make removing it easier. I have broken out from it and, as those of you on the patch know, I can't be without it!

I tried to find the site itself to write to the company without success.

Hi and welcome, I am on the patch my self and I am on the 75's and I have had no problems with except my skin itches were the patches is.I use to use the generics but they broke my skin out really bad so I had to switch brands.I wished I could help you more.

I have looked at my enclosed literature before looking for a way to contact the company because I have had a few patches fall off on day 1. I must have showered too soon after putting it on or something. At any rate, I never did find how to contact them. I did, however, buy the large clear Tegaderm bandages and placed that over the patch and they were held in place well enough to deliver the medication.

How did you get your Doctor to consider Duragesic? I have had chronic pain (ranging 6-8 on the 10 scale) for 5 1/2 years now with no relief from any of the procedures or meds they've tried. Post surgery (for another issue) the recovery room nurses gave me Fentanyl (according to them "enough to drop and elephant") and I was surprised to find that my back actually felt better for a little while! Because of that I asked the doctor about it and she said "that is a medicine that is only used for end-stage cancer patients" and would not even consider letting me try it.

On the script that is on the box or package , it has the name of Fentanyl , then directly under it it should have the company that manufactured it. Thats who you would call or look up.

Ryand - I'm not the one who had my doctor consider it, she is the one who brought it up to me. It was after going through several 2-month trials of other meds, hydrocodone, Percocet, morphine short acting, morphine long acting, too many others I can't remember now (and this has been over 5 years that I've been with this doctor). The only thing I do remember saying to her was that I was sick and tired of taking one pill or another every few hours. She then suggested the patch because it continuously delivers the medication and you don't get the highs/lows in pain when one medication wears off. I don't get euporhic or "high" with the medication, matter of fact, I never have with any of them. After she mentioned the patch I did another month of the morphine long acting while I researched the patch.
