Ides-How's the toe coming?

I have a story to share that might make you feel a little better.  Broke the last 3 of my toes on right foot some years back when my 3 kids were under the age of 7.  Husband was on night shift of course.  Nothing they can do for broke toes butt stabilize them so I took some ibroprophen at the time (prior CD dx) and preceded to go to the pharmacy for crutches since it's kinda hard to stay upright on the remaining two toes.  Piled the kids in car, drove 20 miles into town with dangling, painful toes on excelerator, parked, left kids in car which I never did before...just couldn't chase 'em down!  As I'm paying for the crutches the kids decided to get a wild hair and start laying on the car horn outside.  Of course the pharmacy counter is in the back of the store and I listen to the horn for a good 5 minutes as I hobble my way back to the kids.  Thank God social services was not in the parking lot while my kids did me the favor of attracting attention to themselves!  And in case you're wondering, it was the middle child having the good time and he still lives today.  Sweet revenge....he's a middle school teacher!  The toes eventually healed straight but I still get joint pain in them when it's cold!  Hang in there!

Saw a new foot doc today since the military hospital farmed me out due to too many soldiers in need of care. New doc informed me that once this heals, I will need surgery on the toe to permanently fix what is now becoming a deformity. The arthritis in the toe is affecting how the nail is growing. The nail is curving inward too much and will likely cause reoccurring infections. With a compromised immune system that is not good so it is best to permanently fix it. He said he would do it in 2-3 months.

Also got a referral for PT on the ankle. Still have to wear the cast for another 2 weeks. Will start PT next week.

See the GI tomorrow. No happiness there since the Celebrex caused awful fluid retention and weight gain. I gained 4 pounds in 8 days and the swelling in my legs exacerbated my neuropathy. Have to be on something to reduce the inflammation caused by the AS. I know she is going to suggest MTX again but I am NOT going there.

Thanks for asking....it helps to know that others empathize. I have been feeling really sorry for myself of late. Did I mention that my mother gave me a cold and I have been battling that for a week now? Cough, hack. hack.....

Blaze, I still see Dr. H. It just so happened that he needed me to be followed pretty closely for a couple weeks and his schedule was slammed as usual. I saw the NP, BW. I'm scheduled with Dr. H in 6 weeks.
