Hi Blue, I'm so sorry for all thats going on for you right now.
I have a question for you tho and want to relate an experiance of mine.... could stress and anxiety be causing you the out of control flares?
It did for me - majorly!
I knew the stress messed me up but I didn't realize just how much, like you I was on the pred and also on Imuran and couldn't get control - even upped the Imuran to 100mg, then GI did scope to check things..... he reported no signs of flare..... some divertiliculosis but no crohns - yet I still had the D and messed up system. Thought I was out of my head.....
Shortyly after that visit I started seeing a psychiatrist and after talking with him about the problems and all - what I was calling stress was really anxiety problems, started on xanax at bedtime and wow a major change fast - now the imuran keeps the crohns undercontrol and when I start to stress too much I can really tell, I'll start to 'flare' but it's the stress, if I don't get it undercontrol fast then I will hit a true crohns flare - eeeeekkkkk. I do also have a time release xanax I take on bad days to keep me calmed and not let the anxiety have it's toll. I will never be with out something to control the anxiety issues now too scary!
Hope this helps you and others, good luck on returning to the job, boss must need you thats a plus!
