I had my TI resection yesterday, under general ansthesia and a spinal block. We had planned for laparoscopy but when the MD got in there he saw that I had a huge mass of inflammation at the TI (the size of grapefruit) and my crohn's was fistulizing from one section of intestine to another. My intestine was also matted around one of my ureters and one of my ovaries and fallopian tube. None of this showed up on the CT scan that i had in november. It was about
a 2hr surgery, he removed 18 inches in all and I have about
a 10 inch incision site. The morphine pca pump has helped tremendously with the pain. I was up walking today, the bladder catheter came out and I'm starting to feel some gas pains and hear some rumbling in my tummy. I hope my recovery continues to go smoothly. Wish me luck

Oh my, I wish you tons of luck. sounds like you are going to feel a whole lot better now. Rumblings are the best sign, but take it easy with the food/liquid part. Keep walking, and lots of luck with a long remission.

Congrats WR - sounds like you are doing very well! I had my TI resection performed laparoscopically on Monday, and am recovering quickly as well. Despite all of the walking and sipping of clear fluids, my intestines are a bit slow to wake up, so I was just started on soft solids this evening. Best of luck with your recovery, and hope that all goes well.

You are doing incredibly well!!! Yea for you!!
When I had my surgery, it took my intestines 3 days to "wake up." The gas pains were the worst part of my recovery. No one could believe how quickly I bounced back. (and it sounds like you're way ahead of me!!)
Good luck and congrats!! I'm thrilled for you!

I'm glad ur feeling better! That sounds painful.
But u guys please don't think I'm an idiot but what exactly is a resection? Do they cut out a piece of the intestine and then just sew the rest back 2gether? Also, dumb question number two: what's a ureter?

For praying4healing: A resection of the bowel is where they take the portion of diseased bowel out and yes, sew it back together. The ureters are the tubes that drain urine from the kidney and connect to the bladder. Also where kidney stones get hung up and cause all the pain.
Cdncrohnie: Great to hear of a successful lap resection. Happy healing.
