Does anyone get pain on the left side?

Does anyone get pain on the left side? I have a ton of pain on the left side it always SEEMS worse than on the right? Is this normal?

I have diverticulosis, which can cause left-side pain, but it doesn't bother me very often, only if it gets inflamed and turns into diverticulitis. That's happened just once or twice, and antibiotics took care of it. I would ask the doctor if that might be a possibility for you.

Thanks so much I will make sure to ask about this. I have had this for sooo long and it is very very painful.

Prior to diagnosis of CD in the terminal ileum, ALL of my abdominal pain was on the lower left side. I think that added to the confusion about what was going on with me. Since then I have had two flare-ups of abdominal pain, one of CD impacting a cecal diverticulum, and the other sigmoid diverticulitis. When I had the CD/diverticulitis problem on the lower right side, I felt all my pain under my ribs on the right side - much higher than where the problem was occurring. Wity the sigmoid problem, I should have felt the pain on the lower left side but I felt the pain on the lower right.

This phenomenom is called referred pain.

My symptoms sound a LOT like yours except I feel a ton on the lower left.

My worst pain is in th lower left. I have a stricture there, which I was able to see on one of the small bowel series.

Whenever I flare or my crohns starts acting up my pain is left sided...but my Crohns is located in my right side, so it confuses doctors really and they never will believe me that its my crohns, always want to look for something else non-existant...its a bother really, but it seems to be how mine works, I guess it happens.

I also have the issue with the left side. Mine is ALWAYS worse on the left I just don't understand why. The crohn's is on the right side. Maybe thats why I feel like they think i'm nuts sometimes. I know one thing. I'm surely not making this pain up but I do wish it would go away.

I have the same issue. Doctor says Crohn's is on the right side at the end of small intestine. I feel almost no pain there, but I have some pain on left side where he didn't find anything.

I get pain on both sides, right under the ribs.  I asked my internist about this recently and she said that is from having a distented colon. 

I haven't felt very well this past week and two days I did not eat anything until dinner.  I did not have rib pain until I started eating again.  I don't know if there is a link to eating and rib pain.  I noticed too when I ate again I had pain in the center of my gutt.

Amanda- Have them check for inflamation in the ascending colon (which is on the left side).

I have CD there as well.

The descending colon is on the right side and the transverse colon would be below the ribs but just above the belly button (as far as the pain goes anyway).

Could be referred pain as well.

Pain under the right side of the ribs that radiates to your back shoulder area could be gall bladder.  Nasty attacks usually come with vomiting.
