need help!!

Oh goodness I am so sorry to hear that you are having a difficult time with your crohns. Alright here is the deal...you may not qualify for medicare, but you should be able to qualify for disability if you try. It is a really long process and you will probably be denied the first time, but I would try it. I am in the middle of the glorious process right now after going to the hospital 3 times and having a surgery....crazy hospital bill overall from the 4 stays....75,000. YIKES! I feel for ya. See if your doc can get you some Asacol samples because it is very important that you take your meds, and fortunately for you 4 Asacol a day is a very low dose. If these arent working talk to your doc about other therapies that may also be cost effective. In terms of cheap diets...I dont have a specific diet, but what works for me is: avoiding foods such as nuts, seeds, popcorn, processed meats, highly fatty foods, fruits and veggies that are hard to digest: celery, brocolli, berries, etc. If you have issues with dairy products try soy products, which helps a lot of people. Hmm...I will look up some programs for medications and see what I find and email you. Don't get yourself stressed out and worried because you will throw yourself into a flare.

Hi Merxese and welcome to Healing Well. I am so sorry to hear you have this dredful disease. I am old enough to be your mom and I know how hared it is on me. The accidents you mentioned, honey us ole peeps and young alike have them too, I guess its just part of this disease.

First off you can get help with your medication. Your parents can get help with your medication free of charge. In fact, one of your parents or yourself, need to call the drs office and let them know your parents do not have the money to buy your medicine with. Most of the time the drs have free samples given to them for their patients by the drug rep. Also, the drug companies thru your drs office can arrange to have your medication sent free of charge or if they require any payment it would be very little. Many, many people do not have ins and they get their meds either by free samples from the dr or the drug company.

Most drs also will give a patient a reduced fee if they know the patient has no insurance and are having to pay cash for a visit. Have your parents contact the drs office on this. If I think of anything else I will either email you or post here. Many people get their meds free and drs visits at a reduced rate.

It really upsets me that you did not have your medication for a couple of weeks and had to go w/o. Thats just so unfair.So, please discuss this with your parents and call your drs office ASAP.... Susie

i guess i am ganna have to go to the doctors office :(
to be honest im scared to go. last time i went was before i was diagnosed and they looked at me and said u dont look right ( was 16 yrs old 4 ft 11 and weighed 68 lbs) so they took my blood and i had a heblogoblin of 5 wen it shuldve been 14 and they asked me how im still able to walk around and be awake.

so they admited me to the hospital and i spent 5 days eating nothin but sugar free jello and chiken brooth so they could do my lower gi and then i had to not eat anything for 32 hours then i had to drink that chalky peptobismo nasty white liquad so they cuold do my upper gi...it was horrible...
atleast i havent had surgery yet so i am thankfull for that.
