Scared.... I have had crohns disease since 1992, my first year away in college. So I have had crohns for 16 years. These last three years have been my worst, with all of the meds: pain pills, fllagyl, levquin. And I am still in constant pain daily. My doctors have offered me to start Remicaide. And for some reason or another it scares me. Is there anyone out there that has or is new to the "Remicaide experience?" I have reada
about it, but I'm afraid. Please inform and encourage truthfully. Thank You In Advance!

I have had CD since I was 12 and this is the only thing that works for me. Good luck on your decision.

Tammy,
Remicade is scary, but getting less scary as time goes on and so many patients realize wonderful quality of life on it. My Aunt took it for years and years for Rheumatoid Arthritis long before my Daughter did for CD. She was actually the one who got us more comfortable with it.
My Daughter was diagnosed just as she was getting ready to head off to College. Her first four out of five years of College was a health nightmare on Pentasa, Rowasa and rounds of Prednisone. It wasn't until she was about 22 that we finally agreed to try Remicade. Holy moley, what a difference in health!! She actually got to enjoy her final/5th year of College.
Coming up to almost 5 years that my Daughter has been on Remicade. It has served her very well for most of the 5 years, only the past year it has been starting to lose its effectiveness and the dose has been doubled on and off, mostly on of late.
Remicade has been so successful for CD that they are using as first line med instead of last line in lots of cases. Many IBD children are also finding wonderful health on it.
No regrets starting and using Remicade in my Daughter's case. We are one of the cases that we wish we had started sooner, but fear stopped us from doing so. We have been thanking Heaven for it!!

My daughter has been on Remicade for 4 or 5 years now. She feels so much better!
