It is easier to eat "quick" meals and unfortunately it is more expensive and time consuming to eat healthier. We are going to give the makers diet a try and hopefully we will have the discipline to follow it. Most important, I pray it helps her and others who try it. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers along with all of these wonderful people on here. I feel you all are a blessing and we already have such a connection. Good luck - heck it's worth a shot, right?! I do believe in the power of prayer and believe it is the only sure healing!
I sure hope it does the trick for you! I still have your daughter in my prayers! Please feel free to email me if you have any questions about
the diet. I also have some recipes I could send your way...
I'm not yet convinced this diet is any more expensive than what we were doing before. We used to eat out more and now rarely do. I know we're saving money in that respect. Also, though I tried to be conscious of healthy snacks in the past, we no longer have the typical teenage snacks in the cabinet. Maybe saving money in that respect, too...? (trying to rationalize and convince myself here...stay with me...) My kids take their lunch to school every day, and I KNOW that's saving us money. Also, as upto106 pointed out, Tupperware and leftovers are a wonderful thing. I may think I've spent a whole lot on a meal until I realize I made plenty for at least one more meal (and that's a night off of cooking for ME, so it's like going out to dinner!)
And of course, if this really, really works, there's no way to calculate the savings in doctor bills over a lifetime, right?
Speaking of snacks, they were a challenge at first, especially snacks for on-the-go. Girls are lucky in that they carry a purse. You can keep snacky stuff available there so you're not forced to cave in and reach for the bad vending machine or swing into the fast food restaurant. Trying to get my son to carry a ziploc of ANYTHING was tough. Still is. I don't get it. He carries his phone in his pocket...!
Anyway, I'm always looking for more snack ideas that are Maker's Diet legal. If anyone has any great ideas, please share!
