Congrats to you.  We all like to hear about good news and babies are so sweet.

No I am not pregnant, I am  a grandmother to 7..........and great Grandma to 1.  I don't know how that happened as I am only 45 years old?????

Going to get pregnant after I get stable on Remicaid. The doc says about 4 mths.

I knew there were at least a few others. Sounds like there will be even more soon.

Congrats to all of you! I have 5 year old soon to be 2 year old and 3 month old. All while having crohn's flares.....no meds or diagnosis at the time! ugh

It took me about 6 mo w/o a seton drain. I wouldn't be concerned yet.

I am 12 weeks today! I can't believe it. I'm on 30mg of prednisone which has helped a ton. Congrats to everybody else as well!

I am four months pregnant with my second child. I am on Remicade and want to nurse this child as I did my first (was not on Remicade with first child). My Dr. in Boston was still unsure BUT I finally found the info I needed to get the okay to nurse my baby. I am passing the info on for those who also want to nurse. Here goes (put on your math brains):

High molecular weight limits the passage of a drug into breast milk. The molecular weight of most drugs falls between 300 and 700 D (Daltons). Medications with molecular weights below 200 D (like ethanol, MW 46 D) can easily pass into breast milk. Drugs with a molecular weight above 900 D have a harder time diffusing through membranes. Insulin (MW >6,000 D) and heparin (MW >40,000 D) are too large to get into breast milk.

Remicade is 149,100 daltons and is FAR TOO LARGE to pass into breastmilk. Heparin is known to NOT pass into breast milk due to its weight. Remicade is almost 4 TIMES that weight.

REMICADE is a chimeric IgG1κ monoclonal antibody with an approximate molecular weight of 149,100 daltons. It is composed of human constant and murine variable regions. Infliximab binds specifically to human tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) with an association constant of 1010 M-1. Infliximab is produced by a recombinant cell line cultured by continuous perfusion and is purified by a series of steps that includes measures to inactivate and remove viruses.
