Please let me know if anyone in IL is interested in participating in IBD/Ally's Law Awareness Day to be held April 11th in Springfield.

I'm not in IL but if I was I'd be interested. Let me know if you do any sister legislation in New England.

Ally's Law is currently in legislation in MA and several other New England states. Go to the Advocacy Center at www.crohnsandme.com and you can see which states have Restroom Access Act legislation. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help.

i was refused access to the bathroom at a sporting goods store once... He said "we don't have a restroom" I asked, "where do you and your employees go?" he said, "we hold it!"

I didn't even know how to react....what a jerk! i wanted to drop em' right there in the store and let one loose, but was afraid i would get sued!

I mean, i understand that it is a private business, but why did he have to pretend they didn't even have a bathroom? that kind of pompous arrogance drives me nuts!

It's really inexcusable. That's how I felt when the store manager wouldn't let my daughter use the washroom when she was obviously in tremendous pain.

We are going to be setting up meetings between the attendees and their respective legislator, so I will need to know who will definitely be attending. We will most likely be taking the train to Springfield Friday mornining and coming back Friday night. Ally will be speaking as well as several others. We already have at least 4 groups who will have tables set up and it looks promising that the Governor will be available as well.

If you are interested or are definite about going, please let me know and I will get more specifics to be sure your legislator is available to meet.

We have several groups who will be exhibiting and legislators are interested in meeting with their constituents. It's very exciting. Please let people know about this important opportunity to spread awareness about IBD.

I have a card sent to me by the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation that says,

 

 "I CAN'T WAIT"

Thank you for understanding.  The bearer of this card has a medical condition that requires him/her to use bathroom facilities urgently.

 

Thank you for your cooperation.

Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America

 

 

On the back of the card is my name and Central Florida (I live in the Tampa Bay area).  So, if they wouldn't let me use their bathroom with this card, I'd remind them of the American's with Disabilities Act!
